I dunno about you guys but i think one of my OCD's as with many is i cant stand anything that isn't a official product, i like everything to match and be the same brand. Only thing that i make a exception for is the PS1 scart lead as finding a official one is near impossible i sware.
mmm it depends what it is. As far as controllers go I generally buy first party but headsets and other accessories I'll occasionally go third party.
For the post part I do , especially for controllers. If it's a PSU or Av/S video cables ect I don't mind them not being OEM.
First party controllers, I try for first party AV because it normally looks the best. I always get first party consoles though.:very_drunk:
I just get whatever suits my fancy. If I like it and it works good then it doesn't matter about it being first or third party. I've had first party stuff that is total junk and third party stuff that's better than official.
I mostly stick with first party accessories and only go 3rd party if that's a) the only option or b) it's comparable to or better than the first party version.
Only 1st party. Hate everything else. Gives me the creeps when I see people play with un-official memory cards etc. xD
Memory Cards, Controllers etc. - first party anything else im happy with 3rd party generally - also depends on reviews i suppose, some 3rd party headsets for the 360 are considered far better than the 1st party ones so theirs always exceptions i suppose
I only buy Nintendo products with the following exceptions: Hori Products - Love them!!! Retro 3rd party - for example the old school N64 storage drawers are awesome! That's about it... O... and I hate screen protectors....will never buy them, even if they are Nintendo brand.....
Mostly 1st party products, unless the unofficial (licensed or not) is known to work better, is more functional and/or I like it better just by the looks of it. Also, in some cases you have no choice but getting unofficial products (ie. cheating devices).
First Party items in my opinion are a must for my collection seeing as I collect exclusively Nintendo items/games. Currently in my collection, I try collect First Party: - Controllers and Controller Add-Ons (like the Rumble Pak) - Cables/Adapters - Literature (Players Guides, Artbooks, etc.) - Consoles - On certain occasions, games - Official Licensed Nintendo VHS/DVDs - NES Carrying Cases (apparently one of which was used in the movie The Wizard, not the same exact one that I own but they were apparently manufactured while the movie was out) However, in the time that I have been collecting, I have gathered a few Third Party items like: - A GameShark Pro with box and documentation (no VHS though for the Nintendo 64) - A Third Party Nintendo 64 Controller which I prefer over the First Party due to its joystick being a hell of a lot more stable than the First Party controller - Literature (My Chrono Trigger Players Guide which is a double feature guidebook for Final Fantasy Chronicles) - Consoles (I currently own a FC Twin Famiclone for playing my Super Famicom games seeing as my SNES sits exclusively on my shelf with everything Nintendo related) - Memory Cards for the Nintendo 64 - Figures/Toys (I own two figures: A Blockbuster Ocarina of Time Link figure and a Burger King Nidoking Keychain) I try to collect as much of the First Party stuff as possible, but sometimes you have to deal with the Third Party stuff because it is less expensive. My philosophy when I collect anything is if I can't get the First Party version, I'll pick up the Third Party version of whatever the item may be just to say that I own it in my collection and functions similarly to what the First Party item can do.
Only official stuff when it comes go cables but for controllers Ill by 3rd party stuff such as Hori or Ascii because they are generally very good and sometimes better than official, especially when it comes to high end Hori sticks.
I'll buy third party cables if they're superior. I have most of my systems using monster or audioquest cables. controllers are almost always first party - i think i have a few mad catz COD controllers for XBox (i prefer that to the original for a variety of reasons) but mostly first party. I don't think I own third party controllers for anything except PS2 (a wireless controller) and 2 afterglow Xbox 360 pads.
