I recently obtained a Doctor V64 and made a custom power supply for it but was unable to get it to load any discs. I thought it might be an issue with the disc drive so I popped it out via 4 screws on the bottom of the unit. The new disc drive recognized the disc but some wires in the way prevented me from being able to reinsert the disc drive. At this point I decided to just open up the whole unit in order to move the obstructing wires. I took some pictures of the internals in hopes that someone might find them useful or at least interesting.

I also attempted to make my own emulation adapter / boot cart thing. To do this, I just removed the mask rom of a donor game and left the cic chip in place. From what I understand, the emulation adapter just cuts off connection to the mask rom so it can use the cic chip to boot. I have to find some homebrew or something that is not a "backup" of a retail game to test it with because I know that the V64 will not boot retail games with stock bios.

I will report back and let you guys know if the homemade boot cart works.

Edit: Tried loading a piece of homebrew called "don't be square" but it wouldn't boot. Any ideas on building a custom boot cart?
