Seen one locally and was wondering if you can tell the specs by looking at it (or any model numbers) or if you have to test it with an N64 as the guy has no N64 and doesnt know how much memory is inside it ? Cheers
There is only one spec to check out and thats the RAM. You either have to turn it on or open up with case window on the bottom of the unit. 1 RAM board = 128M, 2 boards = 256M, 0 boards = 0M. Remember its very scarce to find RAM boards for sale. If you do find one in the UK, it'll probably be 60GBP. Make sure you get a power supply and "Emulation adapter" with it as well or you'll have to make your own...
Where can you even find these things...I've only seen them on eBay a handfull of times and they've all been since I was saving for a super large game purchase and couldn't part with the money...is there a non eBay outlet to find these???btw...Gamechoice doesn't have it...or the MD CD karaoke unit that I keep losing on eBay every time it appears.! :smt071 :smt083 <--- Last minute bidder!
Copiers are old, expensive and people generally don't want to part with them... you get them by being persistant, patient and willing to spend $$$. BTW, those MD/FC VCD players are so shitty
:smt022 I miss my V64. Fucking broke on me the bastard. I still have my emulation adapter and the extra 128 ram. I've been holding onto them for the hopes of one day getting a new V64. No idead what happened to the other 128meg board. Was probably in the Busted V64 whne it got chucked :angry :angry (Fucking dumbarse brother). On another note. Tototek are working on a 64 flashcart.
Picked it up today, it was the 128mb version and was boxed and complete. Bugger wouldnt let it go for cheap, not due to how rare it is but how many "games" it came with.
whats the name of the other n64 device that sits on top of the unit...has an lcd screen...the name is eluding me at the moment...which seems to be the most scarce or hard to find???
Z64, you can still purchase them new for $275 unshipped, without a zip drive from the UK. Likely it won't see the light of day.
If u need to see any cute piccy's of a Bung V64 plus the Bung save cart check out my website.... www.oldengineer.info ...It's a nice piece of kit, I ran it happily for years and 'Yes' its got 256megabit's of RAM installed. ...It's damn near entered retirement now, as I find everything I did on the V64 I can do on the GC just as well :smt023
to the guy with a broken v64 I have a v64, but no power cord for it. I have no idea where to find such an odd thing. Anyone have one to donate????
Sean, they aren't cheap things! Kyuusaku posted recently somewhere how to make your own if you're electronically minded. When he has them, Rob Webb sells them for £30 (he's out ATM, but you could always e-mail him).
Rob's ones are EXPENSIVE. (And they're not authentic.) He buys them himself for $20 or so from a copier dealer who makes them.
LOL, ya don't like him much, do you? For someone who has so much knowledge of them, why don't you have one? There have been several for sale on here, and at least 3 on eBay this year.
I like Rob, there are just a few things I resent about his site. I don't like how his name is synonimous with backup units since I remember him posting as a newbie on a few forums I give him credit for pulling together that site and buying up a bitchload of copiers to sell but even now that he owns a few, the site is still plagued with false information and for some reason people see that site as the backup unit bible or something. If you look, I'm credited for helping him change some false info on his backup unit info page http://www.robwebb.clara.co.uk/backup/ And about V64s, I have 2 of them. I want more though of course. For me its little about copying, its about collecting and learning. Some things I resent: - The pictures and text is all found. He took them from other sites and added his watermark. - He took one of my copier sources when he started his shop (he bought out this Chinese guy who used to sell to me but stopped after Rob started using him) - If I want to buy something now from Rob, I know I'm paying what Rob paid from my previous supplier AND I'm paying for his markup and shipping from HK to UK, then UK to the US. Once I bought a copier from Rob that he bought for ~$20-25, and I paid ~$70 said and done. - I resent UK people buying up copiers because UK is a bitch for the rest of the world to buy from and UK sellers LOVE markup Typically when buying from UK, I pay 25GBP for a $25 item AND I pay rediculous shipping. IMO, the copier business should be kept in Hong Kong. This way, prices are competitive AND shipping is pretty central. Lastly, Rob probably doesn't know this but his shop "Family Game" which he got from the original Game Doctor, is Bung's first pseudo title. Thats like me starting a Mega Drive shop and calling it Sega (while using their mascot and claiming copyrights.)
I've always found his site very expensive too!!! I wanted one of the SNES units that accepts a CD-ROM drive, but wasn't going to pay his prices (if I remeber rightly, £190 for a DX2 plus around £50-80 for the CD-ROM!). He also never replied to an e-mail of mine asking if he had certain things, not the way to do business!
Those aren't his prices, those are the going price. FFE is who he got them from. He couldn't have bought them for under $190 for the DX2s and $90 for the Disk Duals.
Who are FFE? There's no way I'd pay £250 for a DX2 with CD-ROM. It just isn't worth it. I'd rather put that money into a Saturn dev unit I don't have, or even pay silly prices for a Derby or Sonic Saturn! $280? Yeah, maybe.
