OK, so I am a fan of a movie called, "Monsters, Inc." that was made by Disney/Pixar in 2001. Well, sometime later, not sure how long it was, some people from Russia hacked together a ROM hack of a title known as, "Decap Attack". All they changed was the player sprites, title screen and the cutscenes and dialog. Besides that, it's identical to the original game it's built off of. Now to the question; Does anybody own a physical copy of this ROM hack on a cartridge? I would love to own one some day. Video of the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxkTAs3zi2I
I had a cart of this a few years ago, kept it just long enough to dump it then sold it for what I paid (around $10 USD). You can also find it on the Russian portable MD clone that uses proprietary carts. Madagascar (or is it Madagascar 3?) is the same deal, only it is based on the original Japanese version (Magical Hat something-or-other) and has the main character changed to one of the penguins.
Do you happen to remember what the cart looked like? Like, did the cart have any art of any sort? Or was it a blank cartridge with just the ROM in it? And boy, I would've loved to buy it off you. I will hopefully find one some day. And thanks for telling me about that Madagascar game! I'll have to check it out.
Sorry to bump this thread, but I found the art for the cartridge and the box art. EDIT: the story from the back of the box has been translated to English: Action of the game takes place in the city Monstropolice where different monsters of different shapes and sizes live. Monster Mike works on the biggest "scary" corporation - Monsters Inc as a children scarer. After unsuccessful teleportation he became locked in other worlds (universes) and the door of teleportation was stolen and scattered. He needs to find all pieces of the door, to gather the pieces and to come back. But insidious villains are trying to interfere (destroy his plan or prevent it).
Weird... First there was Duke Nukem. Then FIFA. Then Angry Birds. Now this. Man the Genesis is a good console for pirates...
I'm surprised the pirates never bothered to continue making games for the SNES/Super Famicom much.. I'm guessing the Mega Drive/Genesis is still a popular masterpiece of a system after it was discontinued officially!
Still looking for a physical copy of this. I would love to own a copy of the game with the box and cart. Oh well. I don't think I'll ever get this one.
FIFA 08 is not a Mega Drive game, though it's built into the South American Mega Drive 3 (and 4). It's a port of a mobile game which used different specs. By the way, EA officially licensed it.
People are still making ROM hacks and games for the SNES, just not as many, maybe because the lockout was harder to work around?
