Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place. Someone from other sites calling himself Sik showed me a ROM in GoodGen he couldn't get booted — "Sega Subor System Cartridge (Unl)". The ROM has random corruption (for instance, the stat vector is $0, the 16 bytes at $100 are "AEAA.MEG. @R@V. " instead of "SEGA MEGA DRIVE " among other things; apparently bits 9, 10, and 12 are ALMOST always cleared). I wanted to know more about the source of this ROM, but doing a Google search for Sega Subor System ONLY gives me this ROM, even with modifiers like -download and -ROM. So what I'm asking is: does anyone have any information on this product? THanks.
From what I understand, Subor was some Chinese company that made famiclones. (they have since been bought out by Waixing) http://work.playpower.org/w/page/17230536/SUBOR-Cartridges http://ultimateconsoledatabase.com/famiclones/subor_971.htm My guess is that they made something similar for the Mega Drive. Or maybe it has something to do with the "Subor MD MAX"?
Maybe it's from their 16-bit edutainment consoles they make. I was going to get some, but I decided against it at the time for some reason or another :-/
Oi; really sorry for massive delay in responding =P What's the best way to do that? For the former, maybe that would be it? (maybe Cowering would know?). As for the latter, see end of post IDK; it looks like that's a custom system... probably worth looking into sometime Hm... something related to this? (link is to a blog post announcing some dump that I can't get to :/ )
Subor (Сюбор) is a chinese crap which was very popular in Russia in 90's) I think its just an edutaiment rom of a cart that came bundled with the console - with text editor and paint on it. http://www.newearth.ru/mkol/11/04.jpg
Thanks to both of you; I can do some more research on these two later. I think the CyberShell cart has been sort-of-dumped (we have a "CyberShell" ROM which is just a multicart). In any case, thanks!
