Too bad the serial numbers are incremental on a per unit basis and Nintendo didn't put a date code anywhere. I remember seeing N64s available in stores until at least 2001 (I was returning a bad copy of Shenmue and someone was buying Banjo-Tooie).

I don't recall Nintendo ever openly admitting N64 production had ceased.

Mine is that the N64 was actually two SNESs duct-taped together. Nintendo has been pionering console duct-taping for quite some time now ;)

Everyone knows that you get a 3DS when you take three Nintendo DS consoles and put them in a compactor, hence the name.

In all seriousness, does anyone have ANY sort of guess when the N64 ceased production? 2001?

More like 2002 or even 2003.

I think the Ice Blue Nintendo 64 was the last in the UK here, they were made in 2001 and were Toys R Us exclusive. They came with Super Mario 64 and were blue on top and clear on the bottom.

i got mine for £49.99 with Excitebike, Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Puzzle League, Mickeys Speedway USA in around Decemeber 2001 if I remember correctly.

I remember seeing the N64 get phased out rather quickly after the Gamecube launched.

The last time I saw it for sale in a store was in a Circuit City in August 2002. I saw THPS3 for sale but I already had it for PS1. At that point, it looked like they were only trying to push out the rest of their stock. Dreamcast had already been discontinued for awhile too and yet there were several games and accessories for sale.

On the other hand, I remember seeing PS1 stuff in stores as late as 2006.

Also, Nintendo does still make the N64, but it's only for use in the Underground Lair of the Mole People and Tajikistan, which is like a portal to get down there.

But now I've said too much. :witless:

I think it's 2001. I highly doubt Nintendo was still manufacturing hardware after 2001.

Probably around 2001 or 2003. Paper Mario and Madden 2002 were one of the last games produced for the N64.
