Hello everyone im looking to buy a XDK but i can find any for sale anywhere. Does anyone know where or who i can buy one from ?
where are you located uk or stateside? As I have a few to move on but will only do so to uk addresses. Id rather trade for a jtagged system preferably a slim or an xkey setup
The only place to buy them, realistically, is from here. There are several members that should be able to sell you a unit. Go post in the Want To Buy requests section, make sure to read all the rules ahead of time too!
Patience is a virtue. Really, it is. Hold out for a little while, and try not to buy the first thing you see. Better deals will take a little longer to find.
Microsoft has a program where you can sign up as an independent contractor and get an XDK. You'll have to get a studio to vouch that you're working on a certified project, then pay microsoft $2,000, then you can buy XDKs for ~$600. It's all perfectly legit, you get support and warranties, and access to the developer network.
Yeah I plan on doing that, it's a really good way to start off. I had a license once, but never got past the NDA stuff. Too many issues, they really are hard to deal with in the beginning. I thought the XDK's without the sidecar's were $1500 and $2500 with one for the Slims? They must have changed them by now I guess. Sony & Nintendo just give you one form and that's it, no interrogating lol.
My understanding was that you paid a few grand for the 'contractor's license', and then were able to purchase XeDK's at standard rates. It's been a few years since i looked into it, ymmv.
