whats a gamecube? joke aside, i never really liked to play with the gamecube, or the wii.......well i did liked the nes and snes though.. edit: oh wait... i did like Resident Evil 4 when it was released..
Are you saying that a console sucks because it has no PSN or Xbox live ??? lolllllllllllll ! i still play Gamecube from time to time =) F-zero GX and a few other games keep me occupied i just got Luigi's mansion the other day
F-Zero GX is the best futuristic racing game ever. I still play GC sometimes. And i don't care about achievements and stuff, only gameplay, story (if the game has one) etc. And 32" LCD isn't good for GC, PS2 or older consoles. I have sony gdm-c520k 21" CRT display with good composite/s-video/component to VGA adapter. Looks waaay better. P.S. My 360 failed 2 years ago and i'm too lazy and busy playing old games to reball it or buy a new one. :friendly_wink:
Retired mine when I got the Wii. Honestly can't think of any reason to have one out if you have a Wii also hooked up other than the PSO and GBA player examples people have given
I really like the Gamecube's OS. That's one thing I miss when I'm playing GC games on the Wii. There's not a lot you can do in the OS, but I think it has a really cool design.
I feel like I'm one of the few people who considers the Gamecube their preferred console. I own PS2, Xbox, and PS3, but I've had Gamecube for much longer than those and I guess it just grew on me. I bought the console when it was released along with Super Smash Bros Melee, and it was a blast from the beginning. Also, I think the console has enough merit just for the Resident Evil titles that were developed for it. To this day, I see the remake of the original as the best game in the series, and I also enjoyed RE0. As for the console itself, I personally think the controller is fantastic, except that I was never a huge fan of the trigger buttons. Overall, I just like to shape of it. Also, it might seem silly, but I really liked the mini-dvd format. I bought a ton of compact cases for them and I can store my huge collection in a ridiculously small space! In short, I still play Gamecube frequently and I intend to continue building my collection of games for it.
Well in a way yes. The experience is already pretty shallow and empty to begin with. And the fact that it basically lacks any online functionality (save for those lame PSO games) pretty much makes the experience that much worse.
My GC is still being used, although it's using the DOL-001 board, and the DOL-101 dvd drive. I also replaced the casing with a translucent blue case that can fit DVD-Rs, and it has a xenogc modchip.
I still use my GC because Wii can not play PSO GC online. Thanks to PSO GC I probably play more on my GC than my Wii.... the only time I play the Wii is when I have a craving to mess around with my usb gecko... and that's about it.
I think the title has some kind of error in it, it should be "Does anyone still play their Wii console anymore?"
If you don't want to play Wii games or have a need to use the GBA player or a few of the online games, there does not seem to be much reason to have a GC over a Wii. The Wii does have an affordable Component cable, so 480p GC games is easy and as it is softmodable you can play any region games too and you then have a bigger library of games to play. No wonder you can find GCs in Japan for a few hundred yen but the joypads are a bit harder to find and more expensive.
so are you saying you would not ever buy a retro videogame console because it lacks online functionality ???
Yeah.. Why are you even here man? How is the experience pretty shallow with the GC? It's a great console, and it has quite a few fun games on it.. A console doesn't have to have online functionality to be good, and PSO is awesome. You're entitled to your own opinions, but I'd be careful about making it out that a system sucks because it doesn't have what you consider "proper" online functionality.. Also, before anyone says so, I'm not a "nintendo fanboy".. I love Nintendo products, but I also enjoy various other systems. You'll notice that I own more Nintendo consoles than any other at the moment, but that's mainly due to the fact that I'm not interested in the Vita, and the PS2 plays my PS1 games.. I sold my Sega Dreamcast awhile back, but I'm looking to pick up another one for Geist Force
Why am I even here? Because I like gaming, plain and simple. That doesn't mean I have to like every single console though. However, the GC was a lame console back in 2001. And it hasn't held up 10+ years on either. I'd hazard a guess and say that the majority of you in this thread probably hated on the GC back in 2001, content with your PS2 systems. Now suddenly it's 'cool' again. Sort of like the DC and the PC Engine before it.
Actually, I think the Gamecube had a really strong following. I got one in 2003 and never bought a PS2 or xbox. I know I was not alone. That you think growing your e-peen with achievements is worthwhile means that you are incredibly shallow, not the games.
I have a GC hooked up in my bedroom, Wii in the lounge. Kinda surprised that PSO GC is still going. Thought they would have taken the servers down long ago. Makes me wish I didn't sell my BBA. I miss that game. Hmm.. time to find a BBA..
I got my Gamecube as soon as i heard about F-Zero GX back before that game was released i also have a Xbox and PS2 and Dreamcast all of them are good consoles certainly not a failure to me.
I usually use my Wii since my games will be output in component. But I use my Gamecube to play my imports like Ikaruga, or Naruto
Not me, buddy. The GC was my first console of the last generation (unless you count the PS2 I bought at launch, never played, and immediately sold for a profit). I loved it then and I still love it. I was one of the few people who bought a GC at launch. I bought my own PS2 and an Xbox, 2 or 3 years later, of course.
