Does firmware upgrade override hardware emu on PS3?

    Just wondering if the latest firmware upgrade for PS3 overrides the hardware emulation provided in the US machines and makes it software based.

    That would be totally retarded but not very unlikely.

    I think it's very unlikely. Removing considerable functionality pre-launch is one thing, removing it after the sale is another.
