I have this Donkey Kong Land 3 game but I was actually surprised to know that all DKL cartridges on the GB were all yellow. I've had this game for ages, since it came out, bought it in 1997, came with an original box and manual (all in German) and all those flyers with Nintendo prop for the Game boy and N64 (not sure if those were in German, but probably were because I remember some of the games advertised were in german, ex:. Die Maus). Also, the cartridge front has the Nintendo Game Boy with a different font (almost italic, except the Nintendo part which is the same), the screw is original-like and the back still has the Made in Japan and Pat.Pend. The cartridge also seems to be sightly heavier than other cartridges and it never saved (It saved if I played the game, the save still was there after a soft reset but if I turned the console off and then on the save would be erased). I'll post some pics of it as soon as possible. Am I looking at an original cartridge or a bootleg?
Here's some pics: http://imgur.com/uUc9xKM http://imgur.com/U3E2pE6 Sorry about the quality, the 2nd picture is much better since it is a scan of the game itself.
Here's the inside of the cartridge (the eprom I guess): http://imgur.com/jn2kWZ9 http://imgur.com/lN94F8K What do you think?

There's nothing to think - it's a bootleg. Case got distorted letters in "Nintendo GAME BOY" which is the first sign of bootleg, and PCB picture was the last nail in the coffin. It's the first time i see 27Cxxx EPROM in bootleg GB cart, its heavy ceramic case is the reason why it's much heavier than original one. And that's how original PCB looks (can't find DKL3 so it's Super Mario Land) You can clearly see that PCB quality is waaaay higher, there's DMG-xxxx-xx mark on PCB, also cartridge type (MBC1) and MBC1-B mapper chip with Nintendo mark. And game ROM has game code on it (DMG-MLA-1, where DMG-ML is Super Mario Land, rest - region code and revision)
They should either say "Fabriqué au Japon" or "Made in Japan" but not "Fabrique in Japon" but yeah, looking at the cart, it's a bootleg
The incorrect font and poor casting are a common bootleg giveaway, sometimes "Nintendo" will be deliberately misspelled: Nintondo and Nentendo are variants I've seen. Second red flag - the label: Apart from the incorrect font used the wording is incorrect: ALEXTERIEUR where it should be A L'EXTERIEUR for instance. Also the label does not fit the space provided for it properly, or have the sheen you would expect from a genuine label. This is what a real European DKL III looks like:
That's pretty weird to see a GB bootleg using a DIP EPROM. Then again maybe it wasn't all that uncommon to see them in GB bootlegs?
I don't think so. It's the first time i see 27Сxxx in GB(C) bootleg cart. They have glop-tops or chips similar to original ones. Well, there were some of those weird long carts with DIP ROMs, but not 27Cxxx or anything else UV-erasable. This cart probably eats batteries like crazy.
