So the new Doom was shown behind closed doors at this year's Quake Con. About 20 minutes of actual gameplay footage was shown. All cameras had to be checked at the door, so nobody got to film any of it. Just curious if anybody from Assembler attended Quake Con and got to see the footage. Just want to hear a little more in depth about what exactly was shown. Either way, the details revealed were amazing:

-NO two weapon system. Hold all at once.
    -NO regenerating health. Health packs!
    -NO reloading.
    -id tech 6 1080p at 60fps

    Super excited.

People will get excited for this now, but then do a 180 after launch. Let's say Doom 4 is just like the first two but in HD I will guarantee this will happen:

Person 1: "Just got Doom 4 ha ha I know I'm late."

Person 2: "Doom 4 is fucking shit dude [insert something that was also wrong with the first games]."

Person 3: "Carmack was not even involved it must be why they fucked that up."

Source: Just about the same thing happened with Quake 4, and lots of gamers feel new=shit but still buy into the hype.

Regeneration is not that easy when you can barely hold out one bullet, like the hardest difficult of some games.

If you play on easy it doesnt matter if game have regenerative health or health packs. It will be easy anyway.

I couldn't care less how other people react to new DOOM. People hated on 3 because it was too different, they'll likely hate on new DOOM because it'll be too close to the originals. Hell, when DOOM II came out people complained that was basically an expansion pack. I loved DOOM 3 and highly likely will love new DOOM. Carmack's work was done, anyway.

I got you, and I do agree. People hate on id all the time. Seems they forgot who actually made the first person shooter genre. There's a reason that FPS games that came after DOOM were just called DOOM-clones. Same thing happened when GTA III came out. Gotta respect the developers who shape what games we play even to this day.

If there is no Doom-guy face constantly on screen expressing pain, then I will take a pass.

The recent Wolfenstein got good reviews. Still, i rather wait till i see actual gameplay before having any sort of expectations.

I bought Doom 3 (PC version) when it came out in 2004. I was really looking forward to it, as I had read a lot about it and had even gotten ahold of the leaked alpha version before the game was released. But the game itself was rather disappointing. Yes, the graphics were pretty impressive for the time. But the gameplay was rather boring. I guess the main problem I had with it was that it seemed really repetitive. It felt like it didn't have enough variety.

So, after that, I can't say I'm really too excited about this. But I am curious to see what it's like, and I may end up playing it at some point - probably the PC version.

I am assuming he means automatic reloading. Haven't you played doom? Either the gun never has to reload or he does it after every shot.

    LOL at the Carmack comment.

I have a bad feeling about this. Besides, the original unoficial Doom sequel already came out in 2007 (Painkiller) IMHO.

CrAzY is correct. In the original DOOM & DOOM II you never had to reload. For instance, if you had the chain gun with 200 bullets, you would just run through all the bullets without ever reloading. Same with the handgun, which uses the same bullets. On something like the shotgun/double barrel shotgun, DOOM marine would automatically reload after shooting. If you've ever played any of the Serious Sam games before 3:BFE, its like that.

Honestly, with how far they seem to be going in terms of throwback I could see this happening.

No release date yet for the beta as far as I know.

Yes Wolf is out, when you get Wolf you get a voucher. You go to the Doom website, put the voucher code in. When the beta goes live, you get an email. We're still waiting for the beta to kick off.

Ok, I still qualified that as reloading (because you temporarily have top stop shooting demons from hell). My mistake.

if it is like the first 2 it'll be a success.

A no frill no useless weird BS hop in and kill all the moves game. Finally with netplay and modern deathmatch modes. How could one just complain?

And a decent map editor, that was one of the best things about the first two games.
