Here's another beta bootlegged by russian pirates. Yet again, this prototype isn't rare.
First up is the very first leaked version (used to be called "alpha")
The files are pretty much untouched by the pirates.
Below that is the last, community patched, "beta 2".
This was published by a bootleg company called "Navigator", don't really know anything about them.
Which is the same "alpha" except with patches made by John Carmack (at least that's what "mulderland" claimed in the readme) and some maps from doom3maps.de which was a site dedicated to custom maps for the leaked Doom III demo.

    Fargus Final Fight 3in1:
Quake III Team Arena, Doom III Alpha, Quake 2: CodeRED - Battle For Earth

Disc menu requires XP compatibility mode, otherwise it freezes on Win7+.
Doom III Alpha is not translated to russian (despite what the cover says)
Quake III Team Arena - rip with no music/videos, voices are dubbed in russian.
Quake 2 - total conversion mod, CodeRED: Battle For Earth, failed to launch on my Win10 pc :(

Instructions for playing Doom 3 demo:

    1. Unrar (duh)
    2. In your Doom_III\base directory, open the runact.cfg file.
    3. Comment out the last line. In other words, add the "#" sign in front of the string "devmap $e3_intro" so it looks like the following:
    #devmap $e3_intro
    4. Launch the game using the main exe.
    5. Press the tilde key to bring down the console (just like Q3)
    6. Type the following: exec runact.cfg
    7. Hit enter, and then go grab a soda. Seriously, it takes about 5 mins to load all the doodoo.
    8. Once it is done, you can launch the intro movie, or play yourself.
    9. From the console, use the following commands:
    map e3/intro (Loads intro movie)
    map e3/e3_1 (Loads first map)
    map e3/e3_2 (Loads second map)
    map e3/e3_3 (Loads third map)
map fred/e3bathroom5 (won't work for some people)

    Changing controls:
    From the console, type: bindlist

This will list all the currently bound keys and their functions. Use the page up and page down keys to scroll through the list. The controls for standard movement are not bound to the regular WASD config, so type the following to put it back to normal:
    bind w _forward
    bind s _back
    bind a _moveleft
    bind d _moveright
Check out some of the other bindings, God mode and give health are already bound for you :)
    Checking FPS: type com_drawfps 1
Download this text file to check out some more commands to play with:

Before playing the first time, you have to type the command "testmap onan/onan" into the console.
You can start the map with "map onan/onan". Every three minutes a random weapon will be spawned in the starting room.

I lived in Russia for a long time, and because of that it's a shame for me to see something like this on assemblergames:confused:

When I was kid I used to buy trash like that, because hey! It's a Doom 3 before its actual release! wow!!! but in fact it was just a demo from e3 contained only a few levels and filled with bugs. In fact this is what you could download from the Internet at that time, but it was burn on CDs and sold for money. I'm just ashamed because things like these could have been bought in Russia between 2000 and 2008.

Downloaded from what in 2000? Unlimited bandwidth internet became a thing in 2004 or so in big cities and in MOST big countries, especially far from big cities dial-up was still the cheapest option till mid-2000s.

I'm in Canada an unlimited up/downloads are still pretty rare, and the price of pretty much any internet/cellphone plan is ridiculous. In peripheral regions, 1Mbps is considered "high speed internet" and dial-up is still popular.

The companies say it's justified because there's a lot of area to cover with low density, and I'm sure they say that for Russia too, but it's just crazy how much more expensive it is than for our southern neighbours. It recently improved with fibre getting into play and creating a little competition though.

128kb adsl was a cheap and common thing in big cities of Russia since 2002, I already used it in 2004 and paid about $35 usa for unlimited usage/month.
anyway it was not a problem for the bootleggers pirates who already did an online business https://web.archive.org/web/20010301182245/http://www.fargus.com:80/

You know, I have a thing for bootleg carts/discs, so in my eyes this is pretty cool.

Obviously, you were nowhere near what would be called "a commoner". You were an exclusion, if $35 for something as novel as internet was "cheap" for you in Russia in 2004...
Also, you seem to be mightily missing the point. It wouldn't cost much to visit fargus.com and buy a cd or two on dial-up. It would, however, be considerably pricier to download a whopping 700mb iso off the internet. Really, you have no clue as to what you're talking about.
How can you, even for a second, compare industrial level bootleggers (with factories and offices) with common Russian citizens.
Of course the bootleggers would get their stuff from the internet, they could afford it.

It seems that you get the pricing wrong. Back in 2004, one US dollar was about 30 RUB worth, and my family had approximately 29 000 RUB income/month, which was equal to $1000 US. It was "a commoner" income for a family in city with 200k population, where I lived. So the $35 for the internet was not to expensive.

Going next: Buying discs like these you were never be sure that you are buying exactly the same product as written on the label. Just like you wrote in the OP:
It's just like trash, and this why it irritates me so much. I just cannot understand people who like it and collect all those discs, modded and probably poorly translated into Russian.
Even back then there was a better ways to get something like this. The Internet piracy was well developed in Russia - extensive local networks, ftps, and specialized sites, they offered a much higher quality content. And even now I'm sure it's not hard to find an untouched Doom 3 Alpha and all sort of fixes for it. So why?!
Well as they say in Russia, each has his special kind of crazy. (It's not an insult)

No, it wasn't. Apparently you're still living in a bubble of "everyone had it like that". Nope, most people didn't. Not a lot of people had internet, and of those who had most still had dial-up. And as novel and poorly understood as the concept of "the internet" was back then, $35 was hardly a justifiable price for something you barely understand the purpose of.

The digital pirating (in Russia) you're talking about did exist, it was not as "well developed" as you like to portray it but yes it existed. However it still required financing and, most importantly, a considerable amount of know how which left most people uninterested/unaware of it.
As for poor translation: Fargus was well known for the exact opposite, they were known for high quality translations and proper voice acting.
I'm not even entirely sure that this particular disc was made by them. A lot of low tier pirates put the Fargus logo on their discs in the hopes of selling more of them.

Why? Because this is something (mostly) unheard of in the west. How can there be an actual, registered, company in the sole business of bootlegging? That's kind of crazy. So there is some kind of trivia and exotic factor to bootlegs. I'm sure I'm not doing the phenomenon justice with my "explanation" but that's because I'm lazy and because I get it myself. I collect bootlegs of three particular games myself :)

Better than nothing. Back then I didn't had a PC, but had a Dendy (Famicom/NES clone), Sega MD2 and PS1. Bootlegs, every single one of them. NES 4$, MD2 5-8$, PS1 2-5$ per one disc (scratches or other things made price drop). And more of that, I were able to exchange my cartridge for another just for 1-2$ at my hometown local market. They had a small stores that trade these things. All I wanted to say is I don't know where @good found cheap internet back when. Cheap and unlimited internet forced these small stores closed but it was 2009 when last of these store closed in my town (ps2, xbox original period). I'm just 200km far from Moscow.
A little bit offtop. There are two things that make Fargus a good and worth lived company for me: Gothic 2 (text translation, I know many said it owfull but I used to it, love the font it use) and Peter Glanz (He started his career at Fargus as game tester and voice actor and now he is pretty famos, Deadpool has his voice actually for us and it's awesome). So, if Fargus got some Doom 3 beta alpha or whatever versions that is now shows up here on assembler - great.

I can only speak for myself, but the exotic factor is pretty big with me, as I only came in contact with bootlegs back then when we traveled on vacations, back home they were unheard of.

Also, at that time, I still had dial-up. I'm not russian, but I used to go to my father's company in 2002-2005 and secretly download games and movies, that's where I downloaded the leaked alpha of Doom III. And yet we were pretty well-off.

I do remember some warez sites though, who had games for download in batches, so even on a dial-up you could download a few smaller parts of a game every day and have a complete game in a matter of days. Good times.

You can love it or hate, but IRL commercial videogame piracy in Russia is the main reason why young people from the countries of the former soviet union are became acquainted what is videogames are and how to use it (i mean regular people, not that who could afford expensive imports from Europe). So it was where all started. Every guy from the locals has made his way into the videogames through pirated and modded copies or even chinese-cloned hardware. Every local guy who own large steam/gog/origin library today has made his way through this poorly made, badly printed pieces of random mess. But it was the only what was fully affordable for a large audience. It is hypocritically to judge about that era from realities of 2018. And yes it wasn't quality content in most cases, evidently.
Some kids on that event first time in their lives tries to play in videogame.

For example this is one of my first ever PC CD-ROM disk that i had. Totally bootleg. I can't just throw this away just because it is not original. This is my starting point anyway. This multi disk had a NFS4 that running on mine outdated Pentium II machine with 5-8 fps and it was totally fine. Front cover is just stupid, copied from playstation only game "Crime Killer", that was not present on a disk and on PC platform. Music and FMV videos were partially cut down from the game resources to fit into single CD.
