    Duh

No surprise there since minimum spec is 64mb GFX card.

I'm going to wait till the demo is out and make my decision from there but first on the list of upgrades is my HD as it is only 10gb.

  3. Yeah, it's really telling most of us nothing we don't already know - Doom3 has been said, by members of id themselves, to run on as little as a Geforce 4 MX, so of course it's going to run on a FX5200.

And seriously, enough with the FX5200 stuff. I'm sure a lot of people are wondering what I'm talking about, but I'm a little tired of the indirect ribbing on the board and off that I'm getting about having a GeForce FX 5200. Yes, some of us own a FX5200. Yes, it is by choice, and yes, it performs very well. No, we don't intend or want to upgrade - either we don't really care about PC gaming that much, or we really don't have gobs of money to throw at anything more expensive. Get over it, and let it be.

And Metal_4evr, I'm not sure, but I thought I read somewhere that id wasn't planning on releasing a Doom3 demo like they have with their past games, but I'm not sure. The HD upgrade might be wise tho - I'm almost thinking of biting the bullet and going up from my 20GB to a 40 or 60GB, but I don't really want to spend the money for a new drive, and I'm not even sure I need one except for games. :smt017

And for all you diehards, there's a torrent up on Suprnova that is a scanned review/interview with Robert Duffy, lead programmer on Doom 3. I found it really interesting, and it actually has some in-game screenshots that differ from the ones we have been used to for over a year.

GSL. For $60. You can get a nice 80gig HDD from www.newegg.com . I highly recommend you upgrade the HDD.

Thank god i did an upgrade

    2x HD's (One is 120GB , the other 80GB)
    New motherboard
    AMD Atlhon XP 2800+ processor
    512mb ram DDR400

    :smt033

The only thing now needing an upgrade is my videocard. It's a Geforce3 Ti200 64mb.

It's great, but i plan to replace it in december.

I'll play Doom3, but i'll put the video settings on medium configuration. :axe:

    Doom 3 Demo

I read in one of the recent interviews that they were planning on releasing a demo but not before release. Hopefully it will come with a benchmark of some sort aswell. Even if they don't release a demo I will probably get *dare I say it* PIRATED copy to test drive before I invest in my meagre funds into it.

Why don't you overclock it while you're at it? Your DDR400 is going to waste on that 333mhz bus. Just buy a aftermarket HSF and some Arctic Silver 5 and you are good to go! The stock HSF for all Athlons is terrible and it's a good idea to replace it either way anyways. :smt023

Anyone wanna buy a Athlon XP 3200+ (400MHz FSB)? I recently bought this and decided I'd just hold off building a new computer until I could afford a LGA P4.
