It seems there is still a demand for moded 1st gen xboxs...

What would just the mobo(double memory) be worth?

Are there any other moded consoles that are in demand? RGB mods/etc

If I offered my soldering servieces here, would anyone be interested? I can provide pics for references on what I've done/etc.

Bad_Ad84 is gonna sell some double memory modded mobos for around $60.00 USD. I bought a virgin revision 1.2 Xbox off eBay for $30 USD. So I think around $50 to $70 USD should be fair plus shipping. As for other console mods, region free BIOS chips are getting popular for consoles like the Sega Mega CD, Saturn, Dreamcast, ect.

If Bad_Ad84 fails to come through on his double memory Xbox mobos, I will come to you for the service. I can send you my board and offer up to $60 for you to find some memory and slap it on my board. It does have the blank slots for it.

To those that want xbox motherboards,

Do you want just the motherboard, mobo with heatsinks/fans, USB doughterboards, power supplies, etc?

Probably just the motherboard, because I think the people looking to get the upgrade already have an xbox on hand.

I'm sure you could make it an option for those who need it.

Can you do the cpu upgrade as well? I have the cpu but never found a double ram board to get installed upon.

Anyone can nab the CPU off eBay. There is something of a socket needed and an adapter (or rewiring of the socket).

As per the other post regarding this, Trusty over at Xbox-scene is the only person capable/willing to do it.
I've recently contacted him- IIRC $195 if you provide your own board, 4 days, incl shipping.
Or, $240 for a pre-modded motherboard that he sends you, incl shipping.

both services cover CPU + RAM, so I'm going to invest in one. Quite frankly an upgraded CPU Xbox is definitely something you don't see around... anywhere, really. It'll be one hell of a killer system, possibly allowing you to game in upscaled resolutions.

Now if only we could upgrade the GPU... Hmmmmm...

Lets get an xbox and change all the parts! Yay!

(rather than just spend the money on something that actually just does what you want in the first place...)

Who doesn't want a killer Xbox?

I'm also sure the service won't be around for much longer- so having a 1.4GHz 128mb Xbox will be, quite literally, a gem among rocks.

    Why?

Games dont use it, emulators and such you can just get a PC for the same money. Same with XBMC.

Whole thing just seems kinda pointless to me, especially given the expense.

I guess it's beyond that- I know that the games (most of them) won't use it, but you can force the console to spit out higher quality video- doubled specs means that more demanding games can run in better quality.

But think of the future, perhaps- how much would something like this be worth in 20 years, when Trusty's service is long gone? It's not like 20 years in the future means that anyone can do it.
The expense is big, yes, so it's not for everyone.
Regardless I'd still like to have an Xbox that plays Super Smash Bros, 4 players @ full speed and know that it'll be an object of envy sometime later.

Yeah, maybe it won't be, but I honestly can't see myself fretting over that.

Modded consoles tend not to fetch as much as originals. Also, anyone with BGA soldering equipment and knowledge of the mods the adapter needs (maybe just buy one from trusty and look?) could make one.

Its never going to be something that can "never be done again!"
