I can't figure out why and was curious if Gunstar Heroes just doesn't work on the DPF. Can someone else with a DPF or even Super Magic Drive try it out and see if it works? I'm pretty sure it's not some sort of loading error from a bad disk, but I guess it could be. I've used the same disks with other games and they work. So if someone could test the game on their DPF that would be great.

I tested the non-region locked "Sample" Version and it works just fine. But the US release doesn't work and the JP and PAL versions are region locked.

The Japanese version which is region locked doesn't even show up with the usual regional lock out message, just a blank screen like the US version.

I've never heard of any Genesis games having copy protection like some SNES games did. But is this the case?

EDIT: Nevermind. I figured it out and got it working. For anyone curious it seems I was correct, both Alien Soldier and Gunstar Heroes seem to have copy protection but I didn't notice on Alien Soldier since I used a version of the game with a Region crack to run on the NTSC Genesis which apparently also cracked the anti-copier protection.
