TOKYO, Dec 10 - Japanese game software maker Square Enix Holdings Co Ltd (9684.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said on Wednesday it plans to launch the newest version of its popular "Dragon Quest" game series on March 28 for 5,980 yen ($64.73). The blockbuster game is designed for Nintendo Co Ltd's (7974.OS: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) DS handheld gear. It also said it is developing Dragon Quest X (Ten) for Nintendo's Wii game console. ($1=92.38 Yen) (Reporting by Kiyoshi Takenaka) - Reuters
Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy are just names these days. Neither are what they were in the past, especially Final Fantasy. Can't say I care to be hones although I'm sure it will do wonders for sales. Yakumo
I'm a little shocked its going to the Wii. I more exspected it to stay on the DS because i'm pretty sure 9 will sell like crazy with the DS's user base. I guess maybe they felt by the time X would be done that the sucessor to the DS might have just recently came out. Either way it's kind of interesting to see Enix side is pushing big support on nintendo products and the Square side is pushing big support on playstation products.
Well it's supposed to be in a mmo style (up to 4 people can play together or something like that). And the wii version is the same as the DS version (no updated graphics or anything). The wii version can then be one of the 4 players. It's supposed to work a lot like how Crystal Chronicles Echos of time works. But I guess it's still all rumor for now. http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3171621 edit: oops, thought we were talking about 9
Umm that is a rumor for DQ9 comming to the Wii. That is not about DQ 10 that was just anounced today in japan.
Yeah, Dragon quest and final fantasy are, for me, no more. If DQX is as insteresting as Dragon quest swords... ahem...
Mistwalker "imitations"?? LO would be great if it wouldn't pretend to be a "copy" of FF. It had the potential in some ways (the small stories are great) but ... And blue dragon is boooooooooooooriiiiiiiiiiiiingggggggg and has technical issues ...
Yeah, i didnt even think of those games like that, but now after reading that statement i realize how true it is.
Game franchises they need to bring back: Phantasy Star (not like the online versions, I mean really bring back, yet updated) Shining Force (I hear rumors of it coming back to the old strategy base) Breath of Fire
Personaly I Wish I knew why capcom only ported BoF 3 to the PSP and not 4. =( Man I would have loved to get that one.
Yeah, I have a friend who told me BOF 3 was the best RPG on PS1...I just don't see it. It's not bad or anything, I just don't see it.
