anyone know of a good place for these. They never seem to pop up. also anyone know of a site for pics of the different n64 backup devices?
For lots of info and a few pictures of N64 backup (and other scenester stuff), check out http://n64.icequake.net and be sure to also check out the mirrored sites he has at the bottom of the page, too. Tons of good info there. For more info and perhaps buying, check out http://www.dextrose.com and especially the forums there. I don't really know of any reliable places to buy N64 backup stuff, eBay shuts down backup device auctions with a vengeance. I got my units 1) from a poster at rec.games.video.marketplace and 2) a thrift store. If you're looking for opinions, by the way, I would recommend either the Z64 or the CD64 over the Dr. V64. I've used all three and owned the first two; of the bunch the Z64 stands out as far and away the best in my opinion (especially with a hard drive installed in it instead of the Zip Drive), but between the the V64 and CD64, I give a slight edge to the CD64 for having a few nicer options and being a bit easier to use. There's also the V64 Jr. (as well as some homebrew devices that function the same), but it seems useless to me since it doesn't take external media like CDs or Zip Disks and needs to be hooked up to a computer in order to load a game onto it, plus it can only hold one game at a time, but it is the only one that plays >256Mb games. ...word is bondage...
