I got this cart in a recent batch of Game Boy bootlegs and I can't find any info on this one. There is one DBZ game for the GBC, but that is a strategy game as I understand it. There's also a video on youtube with one fighting game that hasn't been dumped. This looks completely different though. Any ideas? Title screen Character selection screen Fight intro (in german) In game Cart and pcb (yes, it's cleaned up now)
Very interesting! It seems like other than the title screen and fighter sprites, the graphics seem to be based off of the SNES fighter DBZ: Hyper Dimension. Check out rips of the fighter select screen and Tournament background of the original game to see what I mean.
I got this in a lot of multicarts and bootlegs from a seller in Germany. There were three Dragon Ball Z: Goku Gekitōden bootlegs, two in german and one in engrish. One Sachen 4-1 and also one multicart containing Super Pika! Land, the Mario land hack. I'm doing a write-up on all eleven carts as most are undocumented as far as I can find. Game Boy bootlegs are not that popular from my understanding. But, is there anyone with more info on this Dragon Ball cart? I do have a video of the same sequence I photographed, but the game controls horrible and I can't beat the first level. M. Bison: Thanks! I looked it up at gamefaqs and it seems to be quite popular, so not unreasonable to make a gbc bootleg of it.
There's a Dragon Ball Z: Goku Gekitōden in english in like the Dragon Ball Z Japanese only Gameboy title? if so you don't mind sending me a rom dump please? If so i highly appreciate the offer
Btw one other thing, have you yet to test this on a Super GameBoy 2 for the Super Famicom? If you have one or not
I do have a super gameboy 2 in a box somewhere. Could you elaborate more why it would work different than with a gba? I'm afraid I don't have a cart dumper, I never had any reason to get one. Now looking it up it seems quite straight forward to build one with an arduino, although very time consuming. I double checked with some screenshots of the second jpn dbz rpg and some yt, and I may be mistaking it for the first on in the series - Dragon Ball Z: Goku Hishōden. Maybe the tournament mode from the second were just hacked into this version. I'll have to check it up more closely with the cart this weekend. Also, if someone can direct me where to get to a pre-made dumper I'll get one for the curiosity and share the roms of these. But is there anyone out there archiving (or care about) these kind of bootlegs? First time I've seen a Super Pika! Land hack on a real cart as well. As I wrote further up, many of these seemed to be built for the german market, but again it was huge so why not localize. What's the term engrish in german? Edit: spelling
I was just curious if it were compatible on a Super Gameboy 2 or not cuz i might've think of buying one for my Supaboy or RetroDuo Portable v2.0 once i obtain one of them. As for a utility that can positivily do that job right, I know a perfect Rom dumping type flash cart for your Gameboy Color Bootleg you can get:
I might can help up with some informations..this game comes from the Czech Republic..Theres a bunch of Black Market near to the German border..i own about 4 of those carts and they was selled by some Vietnam ppls there. The market was full of Bootleg Games some years ago.. sadly theres not much left anymore...but most of the bootleg games has some crappy translations into german :-D.. I Hope i helped up.. Greetings
That's just a flash cart, how is he going to use that to dump his cart? I have like 3 of those 64M carts from http://store.kitsch-bent.com/ for running LSDJ - it's just for running existing roms, not dumping new roms.
oh my apologies, didn't know, btw have you checked up on YouTube lately? there's one guy that he showcases Gameplay videos of most Chinese & Taiwaniese bootleg pirate games that he owns via running in Gameboy Player: http://www.youtube.com/user/NusuttoSan
ah I have this game in English - a Chinese version (albeit with a hacked title screen) is actually dumped under the name "Dragon Ball Z Fighting 2005", but I've never seen a German version before. It was developed (or at least published) by a company called BBD, related to another (very prolific) company called Sintax. I've dumped a bunch of Sintax games over here & I'd be happy to try & dump this game (and any other undumped stuff you have) if you'd be willing to lend it to me, but I can't guarantee it'll be playable in emulators as most unlicensed GBC games are copy protected somehow or used weird unemulated mappers. Let me know if you're interested! Alternately the dumping hardware I have is on sale here for $55 inc shipping - http://www.smartboycart.com/ just out of curiosity, which carts do you have? anything undumped? any info would be appreciated - thanks!
This game is the same as the Dragon Ball Z Fighting 2005, just change the title and intro. The dumped rom is that link.
Did you clean just the pins or the entire board? I always come across pirate GB carts, but they don't work half of the time. I wonder if I'm missing out on some sort of cleaning tactic haha
