I just got through playing the new Dragon's Lair app on the iphone. Basically a complete version of the arcade game including randomized scenes and scoring system. And the picture is fantastic. The fact that this game is playable now on a phone is unbelievable, if you think back to 1982 when this was a $2,000 machine (imagine that with inflation). Apparently Space Ace has been out since July. When I was younger Space Ace was literally one of my favorite games of all time, but now I prefer Dragon's Lair for the more randomized feel of it which makes it more fresh on replays. It really is amazing how far technology has come after twenty plus years. The laserdisc games may have been very repetitive and "always the same moves" but I still hold a fondness for them. Is there a game you can think on a handheld that made you think how far technology has evolved that this was possible?
Yes, but it happened back in 1993... I've rarely been more amazed by technology than the first time I put an entire world into my pocket. Epic.
yeah..playing an old laserdisc classic on the pocket phone isn't that amazing nowadays, since high quality digital picture became high standard since many years now. it's nothing more than watching an episode of LOST on your celly, or if you like a cartoon.
