Hmmm, I had a post about this in the FS area but it was removed cause I didn't quite read all of the new rules for posting (rules to help protect you guys I understand). I'll probably just end up eBaying it next week or so as it's more hassle than anything hehe. Anyways, I thought I'd still share this item with you guys who might be interested in a little DC dev history. I won't repost the story of it (that'll die with the FS post) but I'll tell ya it was called the Dreamcast Address Checker. And I ask, does anyone else own one or know anything about this? We used to use them at SEGA but I never fully understood what it did for the developers (who was Sonic Team) besides call out memory overflows. Wasted Tech???
From what I remember it was available only to first party developers. I know there were three at SOA and perhaps Sonic Team and SOJ had the others which if I remember correctly was under the ten total mark (I'm thinking everyone had three). I might be completely mistaken though as it's been about 10 years haha.
Very interesting. It looks like it has a broadband adapter. Wyte, can you confirm whether or not it's indeed a broadband adapter or a broadband adapter retrofitted with its own checker?
That's not BB. It's a modded 56k. It was one of the wacky mods SEGA did to test the modem. It checks data coming and going and does something to it. I never really figured it out haha.
