That cable should give RGB without issue, although it does put 5v on scart pin 16 which only requires 3v to switch to RGB. Not sure if TVs might be picky about this. I would troubleshoot with a standard composhit cable until the problem is resolved. Do u have pics of the soldering? I had this issue after a failed piggyback bios chip install, couldn't get picture or sound afterwards.

I soldered a pre flashed mx chip with link_83 bios in place of the original bios chip but still no sound or picture :-( In the end I had to give up on that board and got another VA1 in its place.

No RGB could be a composite sync issue.

Quite often its a simple peripheral problem, that's why it's good to troubleshoot using the simplest reliable cable. As for the sound/ picture issue, if u are getting sound then your bios install was successful. Maybe check the AV port for broken connections on the mobo side. Otherwise maybe a DAC issue, check for voltage signal on the composite video out (AV port pin 13). Have u tried different games (correct region)?

VA0 controller boards don't work on VA1 motherboards, the pinout is slight different (for FAN and battery connections). I believe it is possible to rewire these connections but definitely do not worth the trouble.
