I got an old Dreamcast, of which the clock battery needs replacing. I've read that the Dreamcast uses a CR2032 battery, and that you can replace the battery cradle with one that allows you to easily remove the battery. Now, I found these products on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-ML203...ther_Computing_Networking&hash=item3f2d4c3aee http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-Pcs-CR2...al_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item2c787a1bcf The description for the battery says both CR2032 and ML2032, will this battery work or will I nuke my Dreamcast? And would these battery holders be any good? Then the controllers: When playing NFL Blitz 2000, on the play select screen, the analogue stick feels extremely sensitive. For example, moving the stick right, then letting go will make the cursor move left or up sometimes. Would some silicone grease help, or can I buy a replacement analogue stick anywhere? I can't find them on eBay. BONUS QUESTION http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=7818275499 Will this item let me play CDI files of an SD card?
The Virtual Memory Unit uses CR2032 battery that power it and save the game saves. The internal battery in the Dreamcast that store the clock and setting use ML2020, which is a rechargeable battery. Before you replace that, try setting the clock and then leaving your Dreamcast on for couple of hours. Then turn it off and back on to see if the clock is set correctly or back to initial setting. If battery didn't charge, then replace it with a new ML2020. Some Ebay sellers, well at least in the US, sell a version with the holder already solder to it.
Thanks for your help! I left the Dreamcast on for an hour yesterday, but no luck. After a few minutes of being turned off, it asked for the time again. I want to perform this mod: http://teamdirtbag.blogspot.nl/2011/12/dead-dreamcast-clock-battery-no-more.html This way, I (or the next owner) can easily replace the battery next time. I prefer this solution over soldering in a new battery holder (I enjoy improving old consoles ).
Well good idea, it takes the same amount of work with replacing the battery with pre-solder legs comparing to replacing it with a battery holder for the regular ML2020 battery.

And while you have your Dreamcast still open, I also recommend getting the controller fuse replaced, if you ever want to use some adapters on the system. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sega-Dreamc...g_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item2a295e3cf6
