Hi, I bought a faulty Dreamcast for 2€. The Problem is, that the thing turns on, load games and stuff, but all I get is a black screen only . The scart cable seems to be fine as I meassured the connectors with a multimeter. Anybody knows whats going on ? Thanks, iCEQB
The first & most common problem with the video, is the cable plug that is not inserted completely in the dreamcast... sometimes you really have to push hard to insert it completely... I never had any other problem besides that
Oh...now I get something xD I get sound and some contours / outlines of the picture in b/w . Somethings wrong here...any fix for that? Thanks, iCEQB
Dry joint in the cable or in the console? I opened it up and the connections on the board look great. Seems to be the stupid cable -.- Well thanks guys...on the hunt for a new one now :cur_sonic: Regards, iCEQB
there's one last thing that cause that trouble, a broken motherboard...it happens when you open up your dreamcast and then use the wrong screws over the gd unit: the screw damages the motherboard and then video or audio can dissapear. I hope that this isn't that case (it happens to a friend's Dreamcast).
It was never opened before + 90% of the screws in this thing are the same, so it's kinda hard to break it that way
