I heard a while ago that someone had been trying to come up with a mod so people could get some parts together and make their own Dreamcast Broadband Adapter, as the only option for one today would be to buy expensive ones off eBay. I was just wondering if anyone knows if anything ever came of this? I've kind of wanted to get my Dreamcast online.
Kazade's DreamPi is the best option for playing online. Cost as of now is around $50-$60 to setup. The only 'technical' thing you need to do is make a line voltage inducer. But this is a lot easier than it sounds and there's even a video tutorial now for making one The rest is just installing the image to the SD card, that's it. It is compatible with all games that have online functions still (besides toy racer and doom, but I think modem on toy racer is being worked on) http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/dreampi-software-dc-pi.57954/ http://blog.kazade.co.uk/p/dreampi.html Hope to see you online
Actually there is someone working on a nice solution for the line voltage inducer. I don't know the full details of this though, but I hope this means the power can be tapped directly from the DreamPi and thus eliminating the need of a 9V battery = more convenience
Yeah that would also be me! First prototype line voltage inducer boards are currently shipping to me from the U.S. to the UK, it'll be a couple of weeks before I know that they work and probably a few more after that until I can sell some.
