Hello, I bought a Dreamcast for parts, it had the classic reboot problem that I fixed by cleaning the power supply pins.
Now I can't read a disc; I tried to clean the lens and adjust the potentiometer. Its default value was ~930ohms, I tried different values like 800, 600, 400, 300 and even 1050 ohms but nothing worked.
Also it can move fine, when I moved it to change the potentiometer it moved back to the center, and if I boot the console without a disk it checks for one by moving up and down.
The noise it makes will reading a disk is the same you hear for one second during a normal boot (like here at 17"); but on my Dreamcast it lasts for 30 seconds before it gives up.

Is the lens beyond repair, and can I buy a new one easily?
    Thanks

"Easily" might depend on your country, perhaps there are a few ones on eBay or AliExpress, or even buying one more Dreamcast could be cheaper. But in my opinion, getting a drive emulator (gdemu, usbgdrom) might be a better option, a little more expensive but with greater benefits, minimum load times, silent console, the only drawback might be compatibility with games, very few might not run depending on which option you decide.

The cheapest I could find is $7.80 on aliexpress, but I have no idea if it will work in the long run :/
