Dreamcast clock battery mod , can use Non-Rechargeable ?

    That will go boom, yeah. Don't do that =)

    Even if you put a diode or whatever is needed to prevent the charging, it will only last a month or two before you have to replace the battery.

    Yeah, without diode it will surely go boom. With diode it's fine.

    Digikey has in stock the exact same rechargeable as in the dreamcast, I have done the repair on my three dreamcast and they are like new

    Do they charge the same way though? That's what's used on the Xbox but would it work for a DC? Honestly though, a super capacitor isn't significantly cheaper than the battery anyways.
