Am I the only one who think the Dreamcast controller is uncomfortable? Don't get me wrong, I love the console but the pad just does not feel comfortable. Anyone else feel this way?

I only just own a DC a few days, touched one a few years ago and only find the cable on the front weird.
it should have been like the xbox, above or below the memory, I dont have big hands but also small are they not. (terrible English, sorry)

Personally, I like how the DC controller feels and plays. Mind you it's not perfect but never been uncomfortable for me to use in the slightest.

Well not totally, the controllers are well made (bar the cable out like mentioned) and the buttons and stick are well placed unlike a few other consoles I could mention, the main trouble I've had with them is the rubbing on nuccles, but I assume it's intended for smaller hands. I realised I missed the second stick like on GC and PS2 playing PSOv2 very recently, but that's not nearly as bad as the stormtrooper type targeting in the game, mind you that's about it I can say bad about PSO :D

you need to click the cable in the little sleeve on the back just below the VMU slot; its there for a reason
    why doesn't anyone know that

personally I always found it the best of 2 controllers (the second one being the n64 one)

Hate the n64 pad with a passion. Hori made the best for that system but I love everything about the DC pad but I do use my wireless PS2 controller most of the time as I hate cords and my actual Dreamcast wireless pads are a friggin joke.

Oh, I've always loved the N64 controller, though I do think the Gamecube analog stick is much improved.

I initially was horrified by the Dreamcast controller when I first got my hands on one. I did not find it comfortable at all. I still think it's not great, but I've gotten used to it. The great library of games more than makes up for it. I also thought the VMU idea was great.

The GameCube controller beats all others in ease of use and feel hands down. Sorry. Must be me and my gorilla hands...

I don't hate the Dreamcast controller but it could have used some improvement in design.

"you need to click the cable in the little sleeve on the back" - mazonemayuI think most people would know that, it's still a bad design since the cable is stressed into a bend. I've had to repair a controller because the cable has broken inside from it. Would've been much better on the top or at the back. You certainly don't play the controller upside down, then again maybe I'm using the controller incorrectly :)

I have had the same pad for over a decade and put the cord in the notch loosely and never had a single problem. They couldn't put the cord on top due to the vmu. And they were afraid it would fall out if inserted from the bottom.

I like the DC pad. It could have been better if it had a second stick though...

I also like Saturn pads, Megadrive 6 button pads and Xbox (especially the large one) and Xbox 360 pads a lot.

I don't like the GC pad, N64 pad and Wii remote. I hate it when pads don't have a round cutout for the analog stick. The three hands pad for the N64 is madness to me...

I don't think the Dreamcast pad needed a second stick, unless there were games that specifically used it.
Personally I find the D-Pad terrible for fighting games, and will hurt if I keep pressing it for too long. The analog stick is a little slippery, but that's something a Gripit and a plastic washer+superglue can't fix.
All in all it's a decent controller, but I wish Sega made a Saturn style controller with a joystick on the bottom for it, maybe like a N64 but not really.

Personally I would give the Dreamcast controller a 7/10 "Average"

1st. I have Godzilla hands so I find that my fingers wrap around the controller so much that I am not really gripping it as much as the tips of my fingers are holding it.
2nd. The D-Pad is absolutely horrendous, I find it to be a waist of my time and do not even bother with it.
3rd. Obviously this is a universal problem, the goddamn cord comes out the bottom, ridiculous.

Other than that the controller is decent and I do think a lot of thought went into it, just not for Gorilla Fingers.

(the Gamecube is probably by far the most comfortable and the most logically put controller I have seen/played with to date.)

im one of the weird people who liked the saturn 3d pad, the nintendo 64 controller, the large xbox 1 controller and the dreamcast controller, where as it has some design flaws in my opinion, like going down to 4 buttons over 6 and the awful d-pad(how sega screwed that one up i dont know)

the cord thing doesnt bother me so much as it can be clipped into the controller at the front, and honestly doesnt get in the way

Then let's say it's great to pressing precise directions fast. Most dpads have problems with diagonals, it's hard to register one without registering an orthogonal direction first. IMO the DC dpad doesn't have that problem, but it could be because I'm so much used to it!
