I recently came across this copy of 'D-net' for Dreamcast. After some research I could only find a little bit information about this disc on the following page; http://www.dreamcast.es/articles.php?article_id=401. On the packaging there is a logo of 'JEA' (Japan Exhibition Association) and on the back the words 'Shopping' and 'Entertainment' appear. After booting the D-net disc you get presented with a logon screen, which clearly shows it's a browser disc. The following URL is visible: 'http://www.dokodemo-depart.co.jp/general/inde...' Is anyone familiar with this disc and/or used it? It looks like an early attempt to bring online shopping to the Dreamcast.
Where did you manage to find the disc? btw the item pictured on dc.es is mine but I've not had the package shipped over yet so I'm very interested in the info you managed to dig up. From looking myself the dokodemo site seems to have gone live in 2001 so its quite a late object. Is there a year on the disc/manual? I had a look at some of the pages in the wayback archive and there seems to be some weird avatar shop thing going on too. I only purchased the set at the beginning of the year and knew nothing of it before then.
I stumbled on this disc by accident/luck, unfortunately I have no others leads for the complete console package. On the back of the packaging it says ©2000 (as also seen in the screenshot). Besides that I have not found any other (interesting) information about it, other then that the 'dokodemo-depart.co.jp' website doesn't work anymore, and I can't really try the disc since it doesn't support BBA.
very nice find! could you scan the front & back cover? (writing a dc book for ages now) from what i can see on the photos, the japanese letters seem to say "sousa guide" (operation guide) too small to really tell though, and my kanji knowledge is almost non existant
