    Hi!

Was hoping this forum could help me, so took the time to register. Does anyone here have the know-how to do a digital audio out (toslink) mod for the Dreamcast?

I'm willing to pay a high price to have this worked on for me. I live in the UK, but I'm happy to pay the shipping cost to send the Dreamcast and for return shipping too.

Is there anyone who can help me out?

The DreamCast outputs normal stereo audio like other systems, however there is a gadget (i've not used so cannot verify its quality) to convert the output to what you're looking for:

    http://www.lindy.co.uk/audio-video-...stereo-to-spdif-digital-audio-converter-p2730

You can get one on ebay cheaply, a different model again:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Analog-St...o-Converter-/281778288048?hash=item419b4b75b0

You could incorporate one of these into a DreamCast internally if you wish - here's the link to the pinout on my webpage (my site will close in a month so check it out before that!) : http://www.bacman.co.uk/home/dreamcase-av-pinout/

Cheaper option though is an external box, as illustrated above - would need a power supply though if not integrated.

The mod won't be difficult at all to install inside the console, subject to the board of the converter being small. I would offer the service but I don't have anything that inputs optical audio so can't test, although would be sureit would be ok. If I were you though, i'd go the cheap option and buy the external converter and have done with it. (I assume you have a DreamCast RCA output cable, in which case you have the audio jacks ready). You could then use it on your other console too if you wanted.

@bacteria, I don't think this is what the OP is looking for, seeing that you won't have any upgrade in the audio quality. With a proper internal mod (tapping the audio directly from the built-in audio dac), you'll have a higher quality audio output:

Ah, ok. That's a more skilled method.
