Is it possible to build one, based on the same principles of the to-be-released-Zip-drive?

I love Dreamcast as homebrew stations, and a hard drive would make it so much better:)

The Zip was made and used standard IDE.

So yeah, I'd say you could attach a HD if you desired. ;)

Dan Potter of Cryptic Allusion set up his DC with a working HD, Might be worth putting a few Q's in the forum.

Potter made an ISA/IDE interface and rigged it to the expansion port that commonly houses the modem. It doesn't work in anything that doesn't have a driver for it, meaning worthless for any existing game. More than likely the circuitry SEGA had for it is different than what he built so if a game had some hidden function for a hdd it won't work.

    APE, naturally.

DC-linux comes to mind as a primary application to use the HDD, not having to draw files from the PC all the time via LAN.
