Hello, I've been looking everywhere to find the Dreamcast Movie Creator software- I need to convert some videos to SFD for a fan translation project I'm working on. I read that someone here had it, would it be possible for me to get a link to it? The only version I can find is in russian, and... all the text shows up as question marks, despite me installing the russian language pack. I tried downloading the Katana SDK, but the movie creator wouldn't install for me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! ~nopinky
You're looking for sfdmux.exe, an sfd is mpeg-1 video with adx audio multiplexed with this tool. Tip: Kvcd quantization matrix works for the video and does a great job at reducing the file size.
The only place i've been able to find is here, download SFD Tool Pack 1.0 http://www.dc-swat.ru/page/download/ I have the english exe. I'll message it to you Edit: Try the dc-swat package first Edit 2: You need TMPGEnc to split the video into mpeg-1 video (m1v file) and .wav audio then use the movie creator to multiplex them both into an SFD
In your opinion, what's the best resolution and longest length you could get an SFD under 4mb? For DreamPipe I can only have 96x96 at an absolute max of 2:25, even then there's glitching around 2:20. I'd like to put together a (legal) zip with a batch file that can turn an avi file into an SFD so people can easier submit videos. Or less time I have to spend downloading/converting/splitting/multiplexing the videos that're submitted Can you link the quantization matrix tool?
Here's a script I wrote a while ago. The size will depend on the bitrate and your eyes should be the judges of what bitrate is sufficient for a specific scene. It's much more automated than the procedure you described, only adx -> sfa has to be done manually via gui. http://pastebin.com/FpzV5cZ7 (The script is pasted twice, only keep one)
When I try to install the Standalone from SFDtools, all it does is extract some files to a temporary folder. One of those files is called setup.exe, but it does nothing, not even under compatibility mode for windows 98/ME. I'm using Windows 10, 64 bit.
Just hunt for sfdmux.exe and sfdmux.dll, the GUI is very unproductive anyways if you wanna do more than one encoding.
Gotcha, will do. Any ideas where to find them? I can only find megaupload links. EDIT: Never mind, I found it in a "Complete dreamcast collection" torrent.
Here's something I found that might of use. DcVD's are intended to max out the QUALITY of video the Dreamcast is capable of, with approxamately 36 minutes per 80 min cd-r. kDcVD's are intended to maximize the RUNNING TIME of video while still producing high quality video. There's also this little pack I made, which is much more convivial for batches: http://www.mediafire.com/download/clcvhtdvtjhhv7y/SFD_Pack_3.rar You might want to use the bat file I posted earlier in a pastebin if there's an error with the notch matrix, I don't remember if this is the last version. I never made a proper release of that script because it's inefficient and ugly and there's still a (single) manual step, but I don't feel like working on it anymore and it seems there's an interest in making SFDs, so I release it as is, no warranty whatsoever. Trivia: It was first developped because of a SFD discussion in the chatbox in 2012, I then cleaned it mostly. People making releases with "kvcd matrixes sfd videos" in the last 3 years most likely used that pack.
