So today I got a VGA adapter and it was working great. My Dreamcast has operated perfectly fine until now. I was testing the VGA adapter by playing Soul Reaver and all of the sudden the console seemed to reset and then, as the power stayed on, the audio/video just straight died. Again the console stays on and I can turn it off and back on (I even get the VMU beep) but there is no Audio/Video.

My first thought was that maybe it's a problem with the VGA adapter though my composite cables did not provide audio/video either. It seems to be a problem with the A/V port. I've been able to find other reports of the same issue with Dreamcasts but wasnt able to find any solutions.

    Any suggestions for diagnosing this?

Edit1: A few times that I tried turning it on w/ the composite cables plugged in, the video will flash for a second and then all will go black again. Maybe a faulty A/V plug?
Edit2: After reassembling the console, I was able to get A/V via VGA adapter to work for about 2 minutes allowing me to start a game of Soul Reaver for the 5th time today. Then unfortunately it went out again.

After taking a closer look, the only concerning thing (and forgive me if this is a common electrical thing) is two of the components have a white substance around them. I didn't see anything suspicious around the A/V input.
