I've always used the cheapest and most nasty cd-r's I could find and have never had a problem, and this goes for other platforms such as PS1 etc, I may have had one or two fail in the burn process but if it burned I certainly can't remember ever having any problems

I have been using memorex for a while on my DC. They work fine (they just scratch VERY easily). As long as you take care of the disk, it shouldn't be a problem.
    Atleast I haven't had any. (REV0 US)

I use Lightscribe discs and haven't had any GD issues with my current DC, I find if I use a DC from storage that hasn't been used for months they sometimes play up until they've had a couple of games used in them, weird eh?

If you're concerned about wearing down the laser, couldn't you just use an SD card adapter?
