Greets all, I have a favor to ask - -

Looking for a copy of the "SAPPlay (Mini-Dream Selection)" Disc, which was released in 2005

This particular compilation of great Dreamcast homebrew utilities, games and demos seems to have vanished from the Internet.

It was mentioned here - -

    http://dreamcast.dcemu.co.uk/sapplay-mini-dream-selection--7678.html

    and here - -

    http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/threads/7678-SAPPlay-(Mini-Dream-Selection)

But all the download links are long dead, and dcevolution.com does not seem to have it hosted anymore.

I would greatly appreciate a link or copy!

    THANKS!

    -atari2atari

Edit: I found this, which is close, but no cigar http://dcisozone.com/downloads/1429/Dream-Selection-Volume-1.html, just in case someone was going to point to this . . .

OK, I have this and wanted to share yesterday... but registration for the upload site failed in some way.
Anyone care to guide me to a RELIABLE sharing service?

BTW: I got ALL of the DC-Evolution collection ;)

    Awesome! Thanks, Shinebi!

Maybe THEISOZONE, which a lot of folks seem to use for Dreamcast - -

    - - but other folks may have suggestions, too.

Thanks again, I have been looking for this "SAPPLAY" collection for a while, and I'm stoked you have it and want to share!

Thanks, Zetrox2k - - I'm actually on the hunt for any and all Dreamcast benchmarking utilities.

I have been overclocking several Dreamcasts, and need a way to compare/contrast different units I have modded, as well as compare stock to overclock results.

    Specifically, I am looking for - -

DCBENCH by Chui, which is on the "SAPPLAY" disc that I originally requested.

If you have it "loose" as a single program, that would be awesome! I think I can boot a .bin of DCBENCH from Dreamshell, but I was thinking that the "SAPPLAY" compilation disc would be easiest overall to boot/run it with.

I have obtained the "Delicious" demo, which is a nice test for overclocked Dreamcast systems (see a copy of it here in action on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uybHZxvGHgc), although it doesn't give framerates or anything, you just have to visually compare between different runs on stock/overclocked systems.

I also discovered that the unreleased game DEFENSE COMMANDER has a benchmark utility within it. You press F9 and it runs a little benchmark demo and gives a score.

I'll make a list of everything homebrew I have, from DC-Evo to all others.
Pretty sure I actually have used the Chui version and another one too for my overclock (my stats are somewhere on the net).
(Not gonna use isozone, you should actually delete that link while you're at it.)

    Thanks, Shinebi!

Advice taken on isozone, thanks, link removed.

Yes, if you have the Chui version, plus the other one you used (what was it? I'm curious!) that would be greatly appreciated!

Mediafire does seem to be one of the more popular file drops, as well as Dropbox . . .

Or, if you want and it's small enough, I can send you a PM with my email addy . . .

    Thanks!

Load.To is faster than Mediafire (much faster for upload, and faster for download) and it has multiple file downloads, theres a regresive count but its quite fair

haha, I forgot the first few days, so went to get it at my home during lunch break.
Alas, I couldn't upload from work, so will try in a few hours. It's only 21MB or so anyways... ;)

    EDIT:
I did however find the pics from my overclock stats.
(servers from DCevolution etc seem to have been reset, and I think that was the only place I had them up)

Another good way to check if the overclock is in effect is letting Tokyo Highway Battle 2 autoplay and check if it doesn't slow down anymore. This was the original purpose of them Jap modders.

Wow, very cool! I finally get to see what the "teapot demo" that was referenced in a few older posts I found here and there on the Internet actually is.

I can't wait to give this a go with my modded system.

i just noticed - - are your pictures reversed for what the captions are? I see the "Primes Benchmark" is actually lower in the one labeled "240 Mhz," and that the 240 Mhz Teapot demo shows a lower 50 FPS than the one labeled 200Mhz . . . ?

Thanks again, Shinebi, I appreciate you taking the time to make these available! I'll share my results once I am done testing. I am tempted to order some 42 or 44Mhz oscillators, however I must admit that I am not seeing fantastic gains from modding so far, although I realize it is a very small boost.

I think I got a 40 MHz Xtal installed in mine.
At first I had a dual-signal version, but that didn't do much, so I had to order at a different store.

    The pics are definitely correct.
The first benchmark pics are the processing times, thus lower.
The second (Teapot) are weird indeed, but that's what I got as a result (on a NTSC-J watercooled one, unflashable BIOS).

Here's the link for SAPPlay: http://www.load.to/ObLgZvrhJj/SAPPlay.7z

I still need to compile the list for other DC-Evolution releases, but feel free to ask.
Now if I can remember where that Teapot demo is....:grief:
I'll probably just whip out the DC one of these days to check all my discs.

I have this on my channel for a couple of years too (forgot though).
Ripped from disc with an Archos AV recorder.
Seems a bit more crisp than the one you showed?

Awesome!! Thank you SO much Shinebi!

I burned it off on a Taiyo Yuden this morning and tested it out - -

Excellent, verification! (As if having it boot while OC'ed wasn't enough, but I needed to see NUMBERS!)

Regarding the teapot demo, I just learned that it was part of the Katana dev kit software - -

(Jump to 0:59 for start of teapot demo)

    - - And it looks like someone ripped it from there and added a frame counter? Yes, if you ever find the teapot demo, that would be GREAT to have!

Do you remember who released it, or what it was on?

Thanks for that link to the clearer video of the Delicious demo. I have a CDI copy, and it's been a good one for benchmarking, too, but like I said, more of a qualitative test!

    Cheers!

    O damn! You're in luck.

I didn't manage to trace the Teapot Benchmark app on any of my HDDs...
However, I dug up my old disc folders and I have it in my hands as we speak :)
Gotta rip it and dump it now. I DOES NOT have a boot sequence, so you should use the utopia disc or whatever.

    EDIT:
my PC drive failed to read it, but it tends to fail a lot lately, so I had to run upstairs and ask my neighbour to dump it for me...
(after I provided him with ImgBurn)

I uploaded both the image along with the raw files (which you don't need, but it might serve someone maybe).

    Download: http://www.load.to/MpOgM98DBq/Dreamcast_Benchmark_-_Teapot.7z

    Pic of the disc:

Pretty lucky that the disc was still readable, beacause I noticed from my mod pics that I must've burned it January 2009.

    EDIT2:
FFS... Just found the original image file tucked away on my comp, along with more mod pics and data.

This is the version I obtained from a member of either DC-EVolution or Cryptic Allusion (I actually think it was through Curtiss Grymala?)

Some more pics I made back then. (Which reminds me I never wrote the modding tutorial but have some nice pics as a breakdown)

Heads up to any moderators reading this: I'll post in the DC subforum from now on for anything else regarding the OC (the tutorial maybe).
