I hope you guys can help me out as this has been nagging me for almost two years. In an undisclosed location near Pearl Market in Beijing, China, I saw a boxed Dreamcast Shenmue edition, which I was dumb enough not to buy.

I didn't check it out up close, so I have no idea if the dreamcast itself was different from a standard dreamcast, but it did feature Shenmue art all over the box. Perhaps it was just a bundled DC+ the Shenmue game in a special box? Does anyone know? I might fly back to Beijing this summer for shopping, but it would still be nice to get clarified.

It looked official. I can't remember why I didn't open the box and check it out, but perhaps it was sealed or they refused me.

  9. These editions have been released only in Japan in a nationwide Sega christmas campaign. It is just a regular Dreamcast, but there is an additional box sleeve which you stick around the Dreamcast box.

There are three different sleeve "themes", one of it is Shen Mue.

Although totally common back then (you could find this edition in EVERY store) it is really hard to find nowadays. :crying:
Same with Toys'R'Us, Daiei etc. models of other game systems... Produced in high numbers, but hard to find in Japan today.

  10. No, there was not. The game wasn't included at all.

Yes, since it isn't a special model. It is just a "box sleeve/slipcase".

There is a Shen Mue model. It was a winning prize in a Japanese Dreamcast magazine. Disappointing though, because it was a regular white Dreamcast signed and decorated with some small paintings by the Shen Mue programmers only. :crying:
