Try to turn the RGB switch to the VGA position, 15khz is not supported through VGA on your TV according to the manual...

    ...VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE....

I was thinking to ship some of the Hanzo, Kuro and Scanliner orders this week. They are all ready. However we noticed that there was a small glitch in "SOME" of the units(but not all), unexpected flickering issue caused by parasitic working nature of the chips. We spent last couple of my days to solve that issue. And finally we solved it, go mad too... :)

If you encounter any non stoppable flickering after turning off the scanlines when it's in thin scanlines mode, please inform me. I tested all the units many times before shipping, however I might miss a few. Sorry for the inconvenience.
The solution is very simple, it's just adding a small capacitor(100pf) between the pin 3 of the 74hc74 and ground or 1st pin of the scanlines on/off switch(2 of the pins soldered, 1st and center) and 3rd pin (which goes to ground) on the underside of the PCB. If you don't know how to solder, just return me the PCB for the fix or request a help from friend if you like.
    Photos soon...

    Take care!

I just tried that and it's a no go, however, im going to order a VGA to COMPONENT cable and will see if that will do the trick. I did some searching and it appears LG displays have an issue with the Dreamcast and VGA boxes..

I tested the VGA box on another tv and it works flawlessly; those scanlines are a nice touch.

    thanks beharius!

    Oh, that´s to bad.
So, not having support for 15khz means no 480p, right?

it means no 480i mode, 480p is OK. 480p is the VGA 31khz mode which is what we prefer.

I now have mine, took plugging it in twice (for some reason or other, I'll look into it later) but it appears to be working good.

    IMPORTANT:

AFTER BUILDING MANY HANZOS THIS WEEKEND, I CAN CONFIRM THAT THERE IS NO DESIGN PROBLEM OR MALFUNCTION ON THE PCB. EVERYTHING IS FINE
    AS INTENDED TO BE.

SOMETIMES FAULTY COMPONENTS MAY EXIST, BUT WE DO ROUGHER TESTING TO ELIMINATE THEM AND ENSURE THEIR QUALITY AND FREE FROM ERRORS.

YOU CAN ORDER WITH PEACE OF MIND!

My Hanzo is working great! 480p looks great and the scanlines really clean up so many games, esp. those capcom fighters.

Hi, I am interested in buying one. Is the only difference between Hanzo and Kuro that Hanzo has scanlines? Or is it more differences? If it's no differences except the scanliner then I'd like to order a Hanzo. Thanks.

Hanzo has built in Scanliner, you can turn off scanlines whenever you want, you can adjust the width of the scanlines, if you prefer thin or thick scanlines (for upscaling to higher res.), you can also select odd or even scanlines just for preferences.
Kuro is an ordinary VGA box with 15/31khz mode switch only, so you can play most of the incompatible games by tricking the console. Hanzo has this feature too.
Both has RCA stereo jacks for audio.

I received the hanzo yesterday and sadly I am not satisfied with the building quality of the product.
When I connect it for the first time it did not work, the blue light does not turn on.
After moving the cable a little bit, i could make it to turn on. but the scanlines switches did not work at all.
The only way i can make them to work is putting my hand on the top of the hanzo and adding a little pressure.
So, what i did is put a book on top of the hanzo and leave it there for the time i was using it.
not a big issue, but from time to time, the box turns off or the scanlines turns off randomly.
it´s very annoying. it´s seems that the cable buit in my hanzo is not well attached to it. (i´m guessing here)

it´s really a shame, because the image quality and the scanlines are awesome.

it's strange, I tested all before sending them, but during shipping, it can happen.
Cable might not be contacting well to the pcb, please push it down to the pcb. or send it back for replacement.
    Sorry again.
