I have had a madness dreamcast vga cable since it first came out. However lately I have been running into an issue. It seems in vga mode I have to twist the wire to the left or right to get stable picture, but it keeps reverting to a weak picture with sort of a blue hue and very dark. However when I use the svideo portion picture displays perfectly fine. Does anyone know if that has to do with wiring or caps maybe? Also when I plug through headphone port I often hear a buzzing sound.
Take a look at the solder joints. I had the same issues with my old VGA box and got it fixed by resoldering some joints that I discovered were loose.
Well I did see two solder joints below that seemed a little loose and re-soldered them but that didn't seem to do anything. Plus I realized when I use the headphone output while its on s video I get this ripple effect from the screen, but when i turn it all the way down its normal. Only akward thing I did notice is there is a strange bump (like when you have a part of paper that is slightly stick up) on one of the traces at the bottom.
I think I will just get another vga adapter. I just don't think it is worth the effort to fix it and honestly it wasn't one of the more distributed adapters. Also they are $20 on ebay now so I think that be the best option. I could install one, but mine is a us launch dc and quite frankly do not want to alter any of it
