Hey guys, I've just finished modding my Dreamcast with an internal VGA port but I'm running into a rather odd issue. I can't get the right channel audio. I had everything hooked up and working before I mounted it to the case, but between then and closing her up is where I lost it. I've tried the pad by the connectors on the bottom of the mobo, the right channel pin that goes out to the AV port, and having the actual AV cables hooked up to the thing while I'm playing it. No dice. I've checked and rechecked my solder points and nothing's bridged that I can see. Is there anywhere else on the board that gives the right channel so I can finally close this thing and actually play it? Or am I just screwed?
Is the stereo option turned on in the Dreamcast BIOS settings? I know it's a dumb question but this can happen. Also check if the game has stereo sound enabled as well. Before you close it up, have you heard about the Dreamcast HDMI mod coming out? It's going to be an awesome mod! OzOnE has some videos up on youtube with direct captures from the Dreamcast. The videos were saved at 1080p so quality wasn't lost on the yt conversion. Most of them run at 60 FPS too.
I actually had seen that mod! I may try and snag one of those boards and an ODE to throw in another DC to make sure I'll be able to play for years to come. But, to answer your question, yes the stereo option was ticked. I have since gotten it working. I followed the trace from the pad on the bottom on the board and soldered to the point it originates from and it's working beautifully!
Glad to hear it's fixed! One more thing about OzOnE's HDMI board, it will work on multiple consoles. The original Xbox is planned as the next target and I think it works on the N64 and Gamecube as well. Basically any console/computer that has a separate DAC chip.
