Hey guys, I have a weird issue with my Dreamcast and TV. I modded my DC last year with a VGA socket, 3.5mm Audio Jack and a switch for switching between VGA and Composite, all works great and has done since I modded it. Last week I picked up Resident Evil Code Veronica and it didn't support VGA so I hooked up a composite cable and flicked the switch to play it in composite instead which worked. But when I turned off my DC and went to watch some TV the Audio sounded weird, it turns out that the speakers I have hooked up to the Dreamcast were outputting audio from the TV along with the TV's speakers. So somehow the Audio is feeding from the TV, through the powered off DC, through the audio jack on the back of the DC and to a pair of speakers. How is this happening, and how can I fix it? and if I don't fix it, is it likely to cause any damage to the DC? Here is how the DC is hooked up Sound Audio Jack in DC -> To a pair of desktop speakers Video 1 VGA socket in DC -> VGA Cable -> TV Video 2 Multi AV out socket in DC -> Composite cable with Scart Adapter -> 5-way Scart Splitter -> Scart to HDMI Upscaler -> Hdmi Cable -> 5-way HDMI Splitter -> HDMI Cable -> TV The HDMI upscaler and the HDMI splitter are both powered by 5v USB Cables. Here is a video of the issue. Anyone got any ideas?
A possibility could be the HDMI cable that is connected from the splitter to the TV. Are you using an HDMI Ethernet cable? If your TV supports HDMI ARC (audio return channel) and you have an HDMI Ethernet cable connected - this allows audio produced by your TV to be fed back to a device/receiver that supports ARC and processes audio for devices that feature video streaming. Your SCART and HDMI switch boxes may not support ARC, but I believe that the audio is feeding through them all the way back to the computer speakers. You can think of the audio lines from the TV to the computer speakers as one connection or one cable. If you are using an HDMI Ethernet cable, try connecting a standard HDMI cable between the TV and the splitter. Hope this helps...
