Quoting the sale page: "The resolution can free adjust from 800 x 600 to 1920 x 1080 with the support of the system"

Dreamcast VGA outputs 640x480, so it seems this engrish sentence means it's not supported.

If you want a suggestion, I got a "mini vga2hdmi" box from ebay and it works fine for Dreamcast. Of course don't expect x-rgb image quality, but it's better on my TV than s-video.

Oh yeh, I didn't notice that. That's unfortunate. I find it unusual though that it doesn't support a common vga resolution like 640 x 480. I'm planning on running my Dreamcast through my XRGB Mini Framemeister anyway, so maybe I should get a different cable? Should I just forget about the VGA and use RGB Scart? I'm not sure on the pro's and con's on the Dreamcast's output to be honest.

VGA is the best image quality you can have on Dreamcast. The framemeister doesn't support it directly but there's only a small mod required to make it work. See this excellent article by darc: http://dcemulation.org/?title=Dreamcast_480p_XRGB-mini_Framemeister_Cable

    Or this post : http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...t-to-XRGB-mini&p=746968&viewfull=1#post746968

You could also buy a "Kenzei" that does this for you: http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?51068-KENZEI-now-available-to-order

Dreamcast is actually 720x480, not 640x480.

The that link from FamilyGuy to my article on DCEmu should explain what you need to know -- pics of my cable are here if you're interested in seeing what it looks like created. The switch on the cable is to switch it from 480p (VGA) to 480i (regular RGB SCART) for games that don't support VGA mode. On the last pic, the extra plug installed on my DC is for SPDIF (digital audio).

You can use regular RGB SCART cables and it will look decent -- but you would have additional lag as the XRGB-mini deinterlaces the signal and it would appear slightly more blurry due to the deinterlacing.

Thanks for the help so far guys. I doubt I have the ability to make my own cable.. I'm terrible with schematics.

The main reason I wanted to connect it to my Framemeister is because I have a strange mesh pattern over the whole screen, which sometimes looks a little wavey. DSC_0129.JPG

For the record, I didn't mod this dreamcast myself and I haven't looked inside it yet (might do that later today), so I have no idea how good/bad the mod is.

Is that picture with it hooked straight up to a normal VGA monitor? Because I don't think the Framemeister is going to fix that problem... sounds like an issue with the mod to be honest.

It's connected to the VGA port on my LCD Monitor. I opened the console up yesterday to have a look... It's not exactly pretty.. but it all looked ok. Could it be the VGA cable?
