This topic was a prominent one awhile back.
In 2005 Racketboy did a few articles on the subject hoping to at least come across a good homemade custom job.

    http://www.racketboy.com/retro/2005/11/want-wireless-saturn-and-dreamcast.html

So while I resisted the temptation of asking about this for awhile, I think I finally have to give in.

Has anyone managed to get a good Dreamcast wireless controller.

I know there are some really uncomfortable sketchy ones.
But, I can't help but, feel that DC owners deserve a place to find good custom made or even 3rd party made controllers.

If your as enthusiastic about this as I am. Just send Messiah Enterainment a quick email telling them that you'd really love one.

They made the awesome 2.4GHz Wireless SNES and NES controllers, which are amazing imo.

They definitely are thinking about DC ones and encouragement definitely would help. At least according to this.

Imo DC lovers deserve one already.

I remember that a store here was selling some time ago some crappy dreamcast controllers from some Chinese manufacturer, I thought that they should be a piece of crap (they looked really cheap IMO). I don't know how long it would take until they start to break into pieces in your own hands, but I really got impressed that they worked perfectly 5 meters away from the console! Sadly I don't remember the brand, it was like 4 years ago...

BTW, the crappiest wireless controllers I've ever had were the "Quickshot", designed for the NES, Famiicom and SMS, between others. I used to have about 8 controls, most of them died in a short time and it was a pain in the ass to play with the other ones, you kept away a couple of meters from the NES and they already started to work like crap, taking away the fact that you needed 4 AAA batteries for each controller (they didn't long a lot until you had to replace them)
I think since then I started to hate wireless controllers (now it doesn't have any sense anymore, thought :D)

Anyone willing to attempt this project.
I know there are plenty of DC fans on this board who are skilled in stuff like this.

Anyways, I'v been rallying for this as you can see in my signature.

So I finally got a response back. So any of you who are planning to buy some of their products, make sure to leave a note

    Hello,

Thanks for contacting Messiah Entertainment, Inc. We are not currently working on Wireless Dreamcast Controllers, however we have been getting a lot of requests for them and we are taking this into serious consideration. When you purchase other Messiah products on www.playmessiah.com, make sure to leave us a note that you would also like to buy Wireless Dreamcast Controllers some day.

Messiah Entertainment is a family owned and operated company based out of Los Angeles, California. We are firmly committed to the classic gamer because we love the classics and think everyone should be able to enjoy them. New development is quite expensive and we have to ensure that there is sufficient demand before we will launch into a new product. Those products that our customers request most often, or generate the most support will be developed first. We will consider almost any retro gaming product, as long as we feel that there is enough support for it. So spread the word and you never know what might happen.

You can always check back to our website for updates as well as sign up for our mailing list:

Old thread, but I remember PlayAsia used to sell some 3rd-party Dreamcast VCD software that came with a remote + IR receiver.

In fact, here's an eBay auction to one:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120277081027

I'm pretty sure someone could make their own custom wireless Dreamcast controller mod from the bits & pieces inside the remote, especially -=FamilyGuy=- with all the Dreamcast mods he does. ;)

Is there really demand for wireless Dreamcast controllers though?
