Does anyone know why every game you play in the Dreamcast writes at least its name and product id in the console's flashrom? (I don't really know if it's really every game, correct if I'm wrong). This behavor was somekind of a rule from SEGA? or the game just do it by itself (some automatic function in the libraries)?

BTW, in the flashrom, changing the region offset for something beyond US/EU/JP gives us a nice black swirl :)

I have no idea of the actual specifications from SEGA or if it was a rule, but I know this also occurs on the Development Box flashrom.

The black swirl is normal, but I can tell you that, after ripping my own flashrom, not everygames write something into it. Or it erase ti right after, because There were only some games that stored info in it when I played thousands ... (dozenS ... ;-) ) of games.

Yeah, I would like to know why that happens, and why the games didn't overwrite the internet settings for example, because they are stored in the flashrom either.
