    Hi guys!

I have a simple question, I'll try to summarize the problem.

GD starts and stops at SEGA screen, sometimes it goes into the bios screen. Backup Cds work perfectly.

The Dreamcast is HTK-3020 NTSC-U model.
With GD Unit Katana Yamaha and a SPU 3200 lens.

I remember that I had a Dreamcast with SPU 3200 that I could read GDs without problems.
I wonder if any adjustment on the lens can resolve the problem?
The problem may be related with the Yamaha unit on a NTSC-U Dreamcast?

In this same Dreamcast, a Samsung unit with the original lens (R48G_148) works with any media.

I read that not all SPU 3200 can read GDs, but in my case the games start and stop the screen from SEGA, so I guess they can read original discs.

I appreciate anyone who can help!

Updating, I managed to make SPU3200 read American GDs in Samsung Unity, but I have other issues now.

Who determines the Dreamcast region lock?
The maimboard or the GD Board?

If it is the GD board, that might explain why the SPU3200 couldn't read American GDs at Yamaha GD Unity and same SPU3200 able to read American GDs when put on Samsung GD Unity.

The dreamcast in question is to a friend and I just found out he wants a Japanese Dreamcast, as it has many NTSC-J games. So if I put back the SPU3200 in the GD Yamaha Unity, it becomes Japanese region and read GDs NTSC-J?
Unfortunately I don't have any NTSC-J game to test here. :(

Now that's all I need to know.

the lock is in the bios not the gdrom assembly. the gdrom laser doesnt have a seed key like a GameCube laser Assembly its all in teh bios for a dreamcast. you can use a region flasher disc and change a Japanese to a usa dreamcast or versus. early usa units where Japanese units with a bios change
