Does anyone have any idea what format the pictures were taken in and how it was connected to the dreamcast?

It uses plain jpeg compression for the pictures. The cable is just a special maple connector on the camera side (though I'm not sure anyone has done a pin mapping), and it connects just as a controller would.

There is an FOSS picture manager for it and a driver for KOS: http://dcemulation.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=98503 . As of now though we still don't have information on the video, which is encoded in the seemingly proprietary 'JanGu' video format.
