Most of the games I tested worked fine with GDIShrink but there were a few issues. WSB 2K2 would not boot after shrinking (froze at the green screen before the main menu). Frogger 2 and Surf Rocket Racers shrunk to crazy small sizes and wouldn't boot. I think Frogger 2 was something like 23MB after shrinking and SRR was somewhere around there as well. I'm sure those games aren't supposed to be nearly that small.

Yeah some games don't work that's true.
My approach is actually quite rough so it's to be expected, I'm open to ideas on how to fix those games.

Otherwise, if you can provide me with a list of games that don't work (and ideally the crc32 and md5 of their 1st_read.bin) I could implement a compatibility check. This way the games that don't work would only be "optimised" as dreamshell does by GDIShrink, without carving them out.

A great great day reading this today.
    Megavolt85, you're the man!

I'm saving for a bba and dchdmi.. already have my picopsu, piggyback bios and 256gb cf-card.

When I have my bba and dchdmi and this release, I'll have the best dreamcast in the world!

Why on earth would you limit yourself with a BBA when you can't even play all games online with it? It simply does not support every online game, only a handful of them. A DreamPI setup is way better. It supports pretty much every game, and also has great features like showing what games you are playing on Dremcast Live site.

the maximum is squeezed already out of the SD card, you should not hope for the best compatibility, it will not be

I understood the limitations, my issue was with the toolset for patching for SD-ISO. They never worked, it's that simple. I tossed my serial adapter, so at this point, it's water under the bridge.

First, I appreciate your explanations, they are helpful. I'll stick by what I said before though, that the speed on both GDEMU/USBGDR are fine with me. So it would be nice to continue running the files I'm running on GDEMU without having to touch anything. Since I've been mostly using USB-GDROM, where you can't really do anything to the ISO, I haven't followed GDIShrink or anything like that. However, I'm kind of willing to go back to the GDEMU, if a good menu is available, as the old neuroacid menu is DOA now.

    Two reasons:

    1. My cf-card is fitted inside my console.
I managed to squeeze in without sacrificing the gdrom drive by using a pico-psu.
So I'm not planning on ripping it out each time I need to copy/transfer something

    2. Because I'm going to play with upstream linux.

Ah ok, so you are basically going to use it like to FTP into the system to transfer games? Gotcha!
