This is an argentinian Commodore 64 made by a company called "Drean". As far as i know, it was almost 100% manufactured here (the original c64 was just assembled locally). It's in excellent condition and came with all the original stuff (packaging, cables, power supply and manuals). I'm really happy of getting it (i've never had one)
Very cool but is there are reason to why it's called Dream? Is that the name of the company that produced the system? Sort of like the Hitach Saturn or Victor Saturn? Yakumo
real nice find, i've got the Drean C64 and Drean C128, your C64c uses the same case as the c128, as far as i know the mainboards were normal Commodores, my c64 and c128 even had the original american stickers on the bottom, they were produced en San Luis, at the Dream factory, now they make washing machines, if the machine has been opened a pbc pics would be cool
Drean is an argentinian brand that mostly produces washing machines, but in older times (80-90's) also manufactured computers, TV's, and VCR's (i remember it because my father was a seller of this brand). I must have somewhere a lot of flyers of the Drean c64 (if my dad didn't trash it). The story says that Drean was trying to sell the 64c at the same time that it was launched in USA, but (for unknown reasons) Commodore didn't like it, so Drean made a cosmetic change to the original 64 and launched it as a 64c (with 64 motherboards) . Also i know that the motherboards were original Commodore's that failed the quality check, Drean just buyed and repaired it. It shares a similar style with the 128, but i think that the c128 has a bigger case. I haven't opened it (yet), but i'm planning to do some mods (and take pictures).
i don't know if i would mod such a relic, you can get a spare machine to mod, since you can use your 64c psu ,and accesories.
i'm looking for a way to load games (have no datasette), seems like i can't plug a mp3 like i do with my msx. Do anyone know if there's a simple way to load games (seems like the best options is a 1541 emulator board or a rs232 adapter for pc)
