    Hey Everyone,

    I'm intrested in opening some DS cards just to get the case so I can replace the internals with a cheap flash card. The goal being, I would like to create some of my own DS cards with the software I plan to write for them. Is this possible, or are commercial DS cards sealed completly and can't be open without braking them?

    They are glued together. You can open it. Try start on the top and then on sides with a sharp knife. The one thing about original cart shell is that they are made only for one side PCB. So if you want to have double side (components) then it won't fit.
    I would suggest to use shell from fake one or from Superkey/Passkey. I might be able to get you one or two for the start and if you want a small run then I might also be able to get it.
    On the other hand I would be interested in such a cart just for one game for my translation project.
    If you want some pictures let me know.

    Well, I would like to get some cases/shells in the event my homebrew picks up and I decided I found something worthy of sticking inside. I'd probably just find a flash card, remove the boot loader with my own game/software, then cram the card in a retail case so the SD slot is no longer visible and card is not removable.

    If I follow you correctly and you found some place that can do a production run for cases, etc, I might be interested in hooking up for that.

    I just remember that the Passcard/Superkey card have a 16 MB rom so I think that the cheapest and easier solution would be exchange the rom chip on one of this card.

    Ah. Well unfortunatly I don't have any desoldering equipment, nor chips/programmer for the job. Considering Mini-SD flash cards can be got for $10 these days, I was just planning on sticking one inside with the cheapest Mini-SD card I could find.

    Well i know this isnt the best idea but why not just use a R4 card shell and then superglue the card to it. Including the opening at the top.

    Heh, I could do that. But then it looks kinda crummy. Especially if whatever I design is for a gift or something. (^_^);

    Same as two side components. The flash card won't fit in a regular shell as most of them have component directly under the sticker. Not to mentioned that the SD card is in the same level as the shell. Maybe, you would be able to move the slot a little inside, but that also involve good soldering skills.
