My mum has recently gotten a DS, and I thought it would be nice to get her a game for mothers day, and i'm looking for recomendations of games she'd like and understand! Background: She played NES and gameboy with me and my brother back in the day, and her fav games were Zelda And Tetris mainly, as well as a few more of the puzzle-y games from the time such as Yoshi's cookie, mario and yoshi etc. For her DS she currently has Brain Training and Zelda. I was thinking Tetris DS but it seems to be sold out everywhere - also is it worth the £30 for pretty much an old game which has been played many times before? i.e. does it have enough new modes etc to justify the cost Any other ideas or experience will be greatly valued as I turn my mum into another casual gamer for the world to hate!
As far as puzzle type games go, perhaps Picross DS? I got the game last year and it is incredibly addicting...so much fun to wrap your head around.
I second the Picross recommendation - it's a much-unloved classic. But I recommend AGAINST Tetris DS. It's just not the same as the GB version. I found it to be pretty lame, not least because of how you can have unlimited time to move a piece by flipping it. The new mode games were uninteresting as well. If she likes puzzles, she ought to try "Professor Layton and the Curious Village" which is what I'm currently playing. It features a variety of logic puzzles, math problems, riddles, etc, most of which are pretty well thought out.
My mom loves the Sudokos in Brain Age, also Brain Age as it. Crossword DS is also a good option, however I'm not sure if it came out outside of Germany.
