I finally got my DS Lite Opera Web browser today. Popped it in (comes with a memory expansion pack that slots into the GBA slot) and turned it on. Woohoo! It takes some getting used to with the scaling of webpages but overal it works well and it is not as slow as reports I have read - Assembler forums takes a few seconds to load each page.

Then suddenly the upper screen turned completely white. Odd. So I tilted it and the colour returned. Then it blanked again. Argghhh. So I fiddled with it and found out that if I open it more than 90 degrees then the top screen is unviewable (ghosted image almost completely white in colour). The machine has never been dropped and has hardly been used.

So I rang Nintendo, got through to a human (who was American!) and gave me two options:

    1. Send me a pre-paid box that I can send my DS to them in, via UPS. They'll fix it in 4-10 days and return it to me.

    2. Send me a free replacement system and a pre-paid return box via UPS to send the faulty system back to them in. I should get it in 3 days time. Drawback - I get a different system back (so my Internet games will have a different code) and I have to give them my Visa details to ensure it gets sent back and I don't just keep both systems. ;-)

So I picked option 2. I've had the system about 7 months, so it's all free. Top marks for customer service Nintendo. I'm a happy camper.

Oh, and I got the same service with my PlayStation 1 in the UK back in the day, before anyone starts bashing Sony :fresh:
