What happens if you put a DS rumble pack (for original DS) into a GBA? I am assuming nothing special, but it is bothering me and I don't have a rumble pack myself to find out so I thought I might ask.
I've never considered the very thought... Theoretically I suspect homebrew could be written to support it. If so you'd have to use another GBA with link cable to send over a program that fits into RAM, since rumble pak occupies the cart slot.
What Lum said since the rumble pack is just a motor and maybe a few small components. They don't have any sort of mass storage for a fame image built in. The ones I've seen connect through maybe 2 or 3 wires at most.
If you put a rumble pack from a DS (which sits in the GBA slot) into a GBA (which only has a GBA slot) - where are you loading the games/homebrew from? Its not a game in itself.... Edit: Just noticed this was already said above (which somehow I skipped reading). In short - what they said.
I put a GBA cart in my toaster hoping for pokemon. All I got was burnt plastic. :sorrow: The rumble cart is for DS rumble ONLY. This is patently obvious as it was never advertised to be capable of holding a GBA game let alone a GBA game with rumble support (the few there are). You could make a flash cart with rumble support but meh why would you now?
I put a NES cart in my toaster once hoping to get a REAL Nintoaster. All I got was burnt plastic too...
I never really thought it would do anything other then possibly vibrate non-stop once power is applied. I guess it is only a expansion for the DS.
Makes sense it's not going to boot itself on GBA. I wasn't suggesting that. My idea at least sounded a bit more plausible.
Hey, it doesn't hurt to try. Who knows, maybe the mystical game genie would have appeared to grant him three gaming wishes. Or maybe it would have just exploded. Don't know until you try.
